We're having a recount and an overtime round! Let's confirm the reigning champion.

C’mon people vote vote vote. If you’re voting for a new president then surely you can vote on this as well!

Tbf I obviously appreciate Tabloid Junkie for its message much more, they are very much different songs with different intentions. The Lady In My Life is a much more rewarding listen though, those background vocals and buildup towards the end.

I love Lady in my Life but my hot take might be that it's really the production that does the work for it. That incredible Bassline makes the experience incandescent in a way that complements how locked in he was. Genuinely beautiful musicality that the whole album, the whole Quincy Trilogy, is just rife with. It's easy to see why it impacts people so much, the best Sonic character to complement Michael on all cylinders, in ways that the rest of the catalogue doesn't quite focus on or play so straightforwardly.

I can see the song being a huge hit, yet I think it's gotten as much appreciation as it can over the years.

Otoh, Tabloid Junkie, you might say, is just another up tempo dance song. Genuinely, there's multiple songs that technically do the same thing, in the 90s alone. And yet I can't get enough of this one for the same reason you said TLIML, those background vocals and that buildup towards the end, it makes the song. Seriously, the climax of the bridge and everything after, the rising power and the abrupt ending, that is very possibly some of Michael's best composition ever honestly. It is a perfect storm that lends itself to being MJs best tabloid rant among many standout tabloid rants.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: TLIML gets more acclaim than it deserves,
Interesting. I think it's overlooked. I've voted for it here but it's not even close to being one of my top faves. But it deserves more love than it gets, imo.

and Tabloid Junkie is among MJ’s best beats.
Agreed. It's just that, in Mr JT's competition, I prefer TLIML.

Fight me.
Nah :ROFLMAO:

I need to go and investigate all of this! For me it's the voices - and I don't even like duets.

It's always seemed overlooked to me.

The abrupt ending is the best part for me. Absolute genius. Especially, as you say, after the rising power.

The Lady in my Life won the overtime round. Guess that makes it MJJCommunity's pick for best album track.
