"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

I don't believe that source first of all.

But in any case, they should do something about undoing the damages caused by this settlement and work to undo it. I think biopic money will give them the push and leverage they need to get Jordie Chandler to speak up, willingly or otherwise in court. Am I missing anything else?
I still don't believe and it's weird how many people are believing it.

Reshoots happen with most films as well, so the fact that they are happening does not itself give any credence to the claims.
We know it covers life to death, as Michael's kids are apart of the movie. The family testified against Michael in 2005 during the trial and Jordan has never been seen since the early 2000s where he reportedly defended Michael to various witnesses as a adult. There's no evidence to suggest they would still legally bind Michael under a NDA

Let’s just say it was true . You wonder how they would likely tell the 3rd act? By removing allegations completely the film would be a waste of time.

The Chandler story (first allegations that changed everything) needs to be told.

Do they swap the 93 case out for the 2005 trial? And shift the timeline?

No, it's already covering the 2005 trial and This is It too apparently, people quoted the producer saying that it will show This is It.

I’m still not convinced everything will be covered based on the fact this is one movie. I think there’s simply too much story to cover but we shall see!

It will be 3 hours and they can just streamline the 2000s until Invincible, the backlash from the documentary airing, the trial and then This is It

Ok, I don’t know what to feel anymore… so the movie would end before the allegations? That sounds weird and leaving 1/3 of MJ’s life out of it just seems avoiding what happened to him.

middle of the road biopic ending before even a hint of the first allegations is suicide. That Friedman article is even worse and makes it sound like An American Dream extended version , how boring.

I remember when he was among the worst MJ haters and would be constantly writing negative things about Michael….it’s weird seeing him almost pro MJ these days

This is total BS and i don't trust that source Friedman.

"The third act of the Michael Jackson biopic has been scrapped & will have to be reshot due to a legal issue. The third act focused on 1993 investigation into Jordan Chandler’s claim that Michael Jackson sexually abused him at 13 years old. Jackson’s estate forgot they signed a deal with the Chandler family years ago to never include them in any sort of movie, rendering the third act pretty much unusable." (Source: https://puck.news/newsletter_conten...kson-shocker-oscar-stakes-netflixs-blowout-3/)

I personally doubt all of this is true, since Evan Chandler killed himself the same year that Michael passed, and Jordan's mother June had been married to a man named Dave Schwartz even before they met Michael. As for Jordan himself, he said for many years that Michael never touched him, and he was so hurt by both his parents' roles in the scandal that he emancipated himself from them. During the 2005 trial, Jordan released a statement saying that he'd legally fight any attempt that forced him to testify against Michael, and lead defense attorney Tom Mesereau also said he had witnesses who knew Jordan, that were prepared to co-operate if Jordan wound up telling his story. After his father's death, Jordan pretty much disappeared, to the point that his mother and sister couldn't even reach him. Accusatory director Dan Reed also tried tracking him down to support Wade Robson & James Safechuck's allegations, with no such luck. So if anyone is behind this new lawsuit, I'd have to imagine it would be June or Dave Schwartz - they're the only ones with a motive.

If there's any truth to the Showbiz411 article, will be ultimately disappointed if the allegations aren't covered: would just be another watered down biopic akin to "Bohemian Rhapsody". I enjoyed that film as an experience (I'm sure "Michael" will also be a fun time singing and dancing to all the songs in the theater), but, similarly to the MJ musical, I feel I'll leave the theater disappointed that the audience didn't see who he truly was beyond the entertainer.

It's all well and good if they infer his love for helping children and child-like things through prank scenes, charity, origins and true purpose of Neverland and the like, but you can't show that without his reaction to the subsequent attacks to his core, and ultimate survival and resilience. He made it very clear during his life that his very core was helping children, and not seeing his reaction (drug rehab, HIStory album, etc.) to the allegations won't drive home his full story for a casual audience, at least not in my eyes. Tired of seeing Michael as a caricature.

Music biopics are product now, and nothing more. They’re not art and they’re not thought-provoking. They are designed to make money off casual fans of an artist by playing up nostalgia and movie tropes. The last thing they want to do is make normies unconfortable by being original, innovative or unconventional.

The only value in this project, to me, is if somehow it leads to the release of even one new song.

I guess I had higher expectations with this one because they explicitly said they’d cover the allegations when asked.

To what extent, we’ll see, especially at this point.

If the film ends before the accusations, it could give the impression that something was being hidden.
Exactly!

Do we just forget everything else and pretend it didn’t exist? Sure we will get the eccentricities, plastic surgery, vitiligo, abuse by Joe but it’s the allegations that had the biggest negative impact on his life and ruined his image and made him into a laughing stock (at times)

The audience needs to see how much he suffered mentally and the reasons otherwise it will just be another hollow story.

My hopes for the biopic have taken a massive nose dive as I really thought we would get something different from the other vanilla biopics and would really let the audience understand who he was and the shit he had to go through.

Still hope it’s all just BS

Good to know that Friedman is not a good source either.

My hope is knowing John Logan and Fuqua are in this. Can’t see them really involved in this project if they can’t really dig into what is core in Michael’s story (unfortunately), the allegations. That completely changed his life and should be in the movie.

But based on that PEOPLE article, someone in production confirmed there will be reshoots in March. I wonder what they are going to shoot.

--- OFF --- TOPIC ---

(( But concerning this very thread !!! ))

I don't get it. We have an MJ-Biopic coming, a massive hollywood production, backed by major studios & AAA+++ listers from the movie business.

This will be single handedly the BIGGEST - news producing - event since Michael's passing. And there won't be another comparable event in the MJ cosmos after it.

In this forum called "News & Discussion" we have countless threads concerning a 24 year old album release, concerning different unreleased tracks, concerning leaks and every other insignificant little thing in between, like such elaborate things like:
- "how MJ smelled?"
- "what MJ ate"
- "since when did MJ wear wigs?"
- "where the This Is It-costumes tacky?"
- "when MJ called x person?"
- "Steve Lukather talks about recording Beat It guitar riff"
- "Was Michael Jackson a "Good billionaire"?"

BUT BUT BUT.. The MJ biopic "MICHAEL", a major theme & news topic, which could spawn news from all different kinds, like hollywood gossip, production news, each & every official news snippet, promotional steps, campaigns, the future release of the first movie poster, a teaser release & different trailer releases, news about actors, etc. etc. ...

ALL MUST be cramped into ONE THREAD ????

I don't get it!!! It's nonsense & it's ridiculous!

@ Mods: Do something ABOUT IT !!!!

There should be different threads regarding this once in a lifetime event for the MJ fanbase. There probably should be a whole under category of a forum for the topic "MICHAEL - the movie" !!!

But how this is handled at the moment. With one thread, where every major & every little tidbit piece is thrown together in ONE thread? It's laughable! What when the soundtrack get's announced? "Well, throw it in the - A Biopic is officially happening -thread!" . And if there are different previously unreleased songs coming with the soundtrack, discuss every single one of them IN THIS VERY THREAD, the "A Biopic is officially happening - thread!" Yeah? Good, now move along... !

"A biopic is happening" was already old news in 2023. We've moved on from that stage. It's 2025. There were many other significant news topics regarding that movie already, many of them would have justified a new and dedicated thread.

--- OFF --- TOPIC --- RANT --- OVER --- !!! ---

Yeah my biggest worry about this has been that it will be unremarkable and standard. I just don't see this stuff being true at all though lol.

I don’t believe this. MJ’s estate forgot they signed a deal with the Chandlers? The estate is made up of lawyers! Jordan has been living under a rock since 1993, so even if, for some reason, there were issues with certain scenes, I doubt he would suddenly creep out and sue the estate. BTW: TMZ also just posted about it, but we know how the tabloids work.
