Not everyone liked the relatively many quiet songs on Invincible. But Dangerous, with its predominantly fast songs, is beyond any doubt. Let's try to make Invincible's tracklist more similar to Dangerous with the help of outtakes.

Here is my suggestion:

1. Unbreakable
2. Heartbreaker
3. Invincible
4. You Rock My World
5. Get Your Weight Off Of Me
6. Threatened (In Christianity 666 is the number of the beast.)
7. What More Can I Give (Solo Demo)
8. Hollywood Tonight
9. A Place With No Name
10. Whatever Happens
11. Butterflies
12. Speechless
13. We've Had Enough
14. Xscape

A major criticism of Invincible is that it was simply too long with too many ballads. If you simply removed songs (and didn't replace them) you could probably come up with 10 or 12 songs that were balanced.

Also, I like that Xscape was released as an album with its own songs. Not everything Michael recorded has to be a bonus track for one of his older albums.

Technically, the 'Invincible' album is not too long.

But it feels too long due to the many yawn-inducing ballads that occupy the second half of the album.

Because of that, the listener gets the feeling that this album drags too long and that it never ends.

I once let someone listen to ‘invincible’ the track and after listening to it they simply said the track is “too long” and that’s all I got. When did that become a problem? MJ fans especially, appreciate any iota of content by MJ and the longer the better. This just baffles me…

Meh. I said what I said. The Invincible album is too long and as a consequence, the quality varies widely.

Dangerous can get away with it because it's an album consistently filled with amazing songs.

A poor man's album consisting of remixes.
I didn't comment on the quality or production of Xscape. I just said I like that it's a whole album with new songs. What I don't want is a dripfeed of 2 or 3 songs at a time, and having to buy a new copy of Thriller each time.

When did that become a problem?
The short attention span? That's definitely a product of the Tiktok/Spotify era.

If you go back 10 or 20 years, the average song length was over 4 minutes. These days it's about 2 minutes, because (a) people don't have the patience for anything longer, and (b) bands deliberately write shorter songs because if it's skipped you don't get paid full royalties for that stream.

We may never get another masterpiece like November Rain, Dry County or Stairway to Heaven.
