If popular artists did an MJ cover album, what songs/singers would you like to see?

Years ago, Elton John released Revamp and Restoration, tribute albums where contemporary singers covered his songs. I think that, with the biopic coming out in October, a similar project for MJ would be both great marketing and a great way for new listeners to be introduced to his songs. (You’d be surprised how many people get into artists through other peoples’ covers.)

If you were in charge of such an album, what artists would you want to see involved? Better yet, what songs would you want them to perform?

I’d love to see:
  • “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You” by Bruno Mars and Tori Kelly
  • “Butterflies” by Usher
  • “Earth Song” by Lady Gaga
  • “The Way You Make Me Feel” by Ariana Grande
(Some of these are wild cards, but think about it.)

Sorry, I wouldn't listen to cover versions of MJ songs from other artists..
So for me personally it's best something like that wouldn't happen.

I don't love the idea, tbh. Otoh, I do love Billie Eilish's version of 'Bad' (also Chris Cornell's version of Billie Jean). If the artists tried to do something different with the song that could be cool.

I like the idea of Samara Joy doing a Michael song, I just have to figure out which one. Keep The Faith, possibly, bc she has a gospel background. But I need to think about it a bit more.

Imo, the album would have to be like the David Bowie tribute - a double CD, 34 songs (or thereabouts!).

Don't know about specific songs, but I also vote for Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga. I think Bruno would fit to a lot of songs from the Bad-era or earlier, Lady Gaga would be great for several ballads.

"Don't Stop Til You Get Enough" by Neil deGrasse Tyson.
