This is their most important project - the renewed interest the biopic will bring, they need to be in order and ready. We know Bad's film reels have been scanned and sat since at least 2012. What on earth could be holding that up?!Well hell... for the time being.... they could at least give us the short films in 4k
I've been hoping that they'll make something worthwhile for HIStory 30 in order to make up for the delay. The Estate usually makes an announcement for anniversary releases on the month of May so we should be hearing more about it very soon.Well hell... for the time being.... they could at least give us the short films in 4k
There won't be anything BEFORE the biopic.I've been hoping that they'll make something worthwhile for HIStory 30 in order to make up for the delay. The Estate usually makes an announcement for anniversary releases on the month of May so we should be hearing more about it very soon.
Never say never. There won't be anything BEFORE the biopic.
We already know there's gonna be a 30th anniversary celebration of HIStory, the real question is whether it'll be more than just cheap merchandises or not. They've also stated on their FAQ page that they had plans for HIStory 25 but had to get shelved due to Covid, but they're still holding onto said plans. There won't be anything BEFORE the biopic.
You are right in that regard, that they will do supplemental stuff. All in preparation for the big release they are focusing on - which is the biopic. We already know there's gonna be a 30th anniversary celebration of HIStory, the real question is whether it'll be more than just cheap merchandises or not. They've also stated on their FAQ page that they had plans for HIStory 25 but had to get shelved due to Covid, but they're still holding onto said plans.

The Official Michael Jackson Calendar 2025: HIStory's 30th Anniversary - MJVibe
Danilo just revealed the 2025 official Michael Jackson Calendar and we are celebrating the 30th Anniversary of HIStory.www.mjvibe.com
Why isn’t there a HIStory 25 release? Or a HIStory concert film? - Michael Jackson Official Site
In our opinion this album is Michael’s most underappreciated and one of his very best. Although they were never announced, the Estate had plans to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the HIStory album this year, but because of COVID-19, those plans had to be modified. So, while we still have plans...www.michaeljackson.com
And the biopic doesn't necessarily stop the Estate from working on other things, they released the remastered short films from Off The Wall not long ago.
Deserved!! Maybe he can finally recapture his amazing ... how many albums in the top 10 or 5 that were not recognized on the official charts because of being catalogue albums? One thing I’ll say is that once this movie comes out , enjoy the moment because nothing will be as big as this era again.
It should help boost MJ’s popularity even further and all the press/ interviews, hype trailers etc - movie reactions , it will be all over TikTok and X and he will have a career high peak not seen since 09.
Maybe Taj's series?!There won't be anything BEFORE the biopic.
OK, this convo is a bit old by now but I've been intrigued by this argument (which, ngl, I couldn't understand, lol). I'm not really seeing the similarity between a wrestler/MMA guy who many people (outside of the US and the MMA / wrestling fanbase) have never heard of and Michael, a global superstar who most people have heard of plus they know many parts of his story / his music / what he looks like etc. And, sure, I know A24 have done well with their films in recent years so I suppose this biopic can't be discounted just yet but I had a look online (bc I have no idea who this guy is) and apparently the film has already had a couple of screenings which have had mixed reactions.Sure absolutely. But two character driven potential oscar-bait biopics releasing on the same weekend? They would both appeal to a similar movie going audience and studios won't usually put them against each other as they overlap too much.
They don't celebrate actual album anniversaries and you think they're gonna make a hooplah over a compilation disc? Somebody save me pleasePeople forget something, this year is the anniversary of the Essential Michael Jackson album. Which is his biggest annual seller worldwide outside of Number Ones and Thriller. It will also be promoted and re-issued this year
Yeh they ain't gonna celebrate thstPeople forget something, this year is the anniversary of the Essential Michael Jackson album. Which is his biggest annual seller worldwide outside of Number Ones and Thriller. It will also be promoted and re-issued this year
They would rather celebrate the 15th anniversary of "Michael".People forget something, this year is the anniversary of the Essential Michael Jackson album. Which is his biggest annual seller worldwide outside of Number Ones and Thriller. It will also be promoted and re-issued this year

I'm just not seeing the overlap, is all I'm saying. But we'll see, I guess.![]()

Well another biopic (Dwayne Johnson's movie) just got announced for Oct 3. It's another sign the Michael movie will be delayed.
Movie box office performance is often quantified by referring to the "4 quadrants" - basically to which demographic does it most appeal to - male female young old etc. That's the reason you normally don't see 2 or 3 animated movies or action movies or any other similar genre opening against each other on the same weekend. Usually the studios would choose to offer "counter programming".OK, this convo is a bit old by now but I've been intrigued by this argument (which, ngl, I couldn't understand, lol). The estate doesn't even know Michael made any albums beyond the 80sThey don't celebrate actual album anniversaries and you think they're gonna make a hooplah over a compilation disc? Somebody save me please
And they look at Bad suspiciously like "Are you sure you're supposed to be in here, you're looking real unfamiliar right now"The estate doesn't even know Michael made any albums beyond the 80s

october 3 ( 2025).In regards to the two movies, John Campea confirming that two sources close to production are saying it “will probably [happen]” and are “something they are seriously sitting down and looking at” is a good sign; to me, it means they are very confident in what they’ve made.
I don’t know where the allegation-plot change rumors fall in this, if at all. Having the allegations in a completely separate film (Part Two) would probably appease investors…
EDIT: Another interesting quote:
“I have heard [from my sources] that they are very, very proud of this film. I've heard they're very proud of the movie, that it's a great movie. What I was told was there are times when it's a hard watch, but they meant that in the really good way. I mean, just think of some other films, some of the greatest films ever had those moments that are really hard to watch. I've heard that, but also they're extremely proud of this film. And I just don't see this as being anything but a win for them if they [release two films].”
announcement ?,no!!Both to be released autumn 2026? Sounds very unlikely since all two-part movies have been released at least six months apart.
