The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

"Shut Up And Dance" is one of the songs I've been wanting to hear the most and the fact that it's been under our noses this whole time is absolutely hilarious lol. I think Joe Vogel described it as being similar to a Stevie Wonder song and I can kind of hear that with that snippet. I hope we get to hear the full song one day, if Michael held on to that demo for 10 years means there's potential there.

These Beats were made by Eric Kirkland for Invincible. I don`t think Michael was interested in the first one, because it sounds like a standard Hip Hop Beat from that era. The second one is "Shut Up And Dance" which Kirkland created as a kind of 80s retro track. As far as I know, Michael never recorded vocals. But there is a recording on which Eric Kirkland sings in Michael's style. (similar to Jungle City, which was sung by Dr. Freeze.)

The song was even on the list at the Villa in June 2009, so Michael liked the song.

Eric Kirkland is a member of the R+B/Hip Hop vocal band "Portrait". Their debut-single "Here We Go Again!" from 1992 sampled I Can't Help it.
Wow, “Shut Up and Dance” is… average sounding. I recall Joe Vogel saying it was Stevie Wonder reminiscent, and I can kinda hear that. Maybe with vocals it would be better, but this little snippet isn’t very encouraging.

Okay, before said something, first share your source. There’s no proof that the second snippet is SUAD, also, Damien Shields couldn’t recognize it when i asked on X with about these snippets

Do we have a source for it being written for Invincible? I only remember it being on the 09 list but nowhere else

Any chance that the first one is "I Love You More" or is it a different song that we don't know of?

Yeah, not sure why everyone is just believing this without question.

Did he record vocals for it though? I thought I read somewhere he never recorded vocals for it, but I could be remembering wrong

Unfortunate there's no vocals but not surprising.
Interesting slightly off topic hypothetical, would you (you being anyone reading this) trade the unreleased tracks with vocals for the ones that have no vocals?

Let's say I Am a Loser has no vocals in exchange for, say, a fully complete Ghost of Another Lover.

Dream Away is bare and empty but Water is about fully realized.

Hollywood Tonight had a complete bridge but Xscape loses its middle section.

And so on and so forth.

I'd even do that with released songs depending on what song we're talking here. I wouldn't hesitate switching "You Rock My World" for a version of "Monster" (the Invincible outtake) with complete vocals.

^^ That is a damn good question.

I’d say it depends on the songs we’re switching.
Its basically just a variation of "I'd give my firstborn son for a chance to shake Michael's hand"

"I'd give the entire Invincible album to hear Michael's follow up to the Invincible album!"

I'd even do that with released songs depending on what song we're talking here. I wouldn't hesitate switching "You Rock My World" for a version of "Monster" (the Invincible outtake) with complete vocals.
That's cheating and you know it. But more importantly it's boring. Just another form of "Change Michael's albums on a whim". Keep it to the leaks and outtakes.

Don't care. P.Y.T and The Way You Make Me Feel for Adore You

I'd exchange every single one of Bryan Loren's songs (except Mind Is The Magic probably) for a solo version of To Satisfy You, it's Bryan's best song and it's a shame that the duet is all there is to it as far as MJ's recorded vocals goes.

For the Thriller sessions, I’d gladly trade Nite Line for Spice of Life (assuming there's at least a super rough demo somewhere). The Manhattan Transfer version is fire and honestly makes me hope Michael recorded it too, if he did, who knows what happened to the tapes?

For Bad, I’m giving up Streetwalker in exchange for Crack Kills. We don’t even know what it sounds like, but just from the title alone, I’m calling it a banger.

When it comes to Dangerous, we all know the only unreleased track that truly deserves to be finished is GOAL. Just sacrifice any of the Loren tracks lmao.

For HIStory, I’d trade In the Back for Faces. I feel like a finished version of that could’ve actually been a hit.

As for the later years, I’m dropping CGYWOOM for pretty much any unreleased track from the final sessions? except Water, that snippet already sounds weak as hell. I’d probably go with Dark Lady, Rocker, or Monster.

There's not many actual HIStory outtakes, most of the songs fully recorded made it on there, the other were either released somewhere else, or leaked.
