Out of curiosity, and considering that we're close to the 30th anniversary of HIStory, what were some of your fan experiences with the album, or the era in general?

I got it on release day in 1995 just as I did with the previous two.
Loved it then and perhaps even more today.
I dont remember much other than that I played this album a lot and that Earth Song
topped many charts around december 1995.

Yeah, I don't know what a "fan experience" is.

I'm a fan and I have experience with the album. Bought it at launch, listened to it a lot. Didn't like Childhood or YANA, but loved everything else, even if a couple of the songs got a bit samey. Earth Song is one of the best songs of the 90s.

You'd still hear Scream and other songs on the radio, but there was noticeably less airplay than there was with Dangerous.

I became a young fan during this era, so I remember this era very fondly🙂.

I remember being mesmerized by the videos for Scream, TDCAU and ES. The VMA performance I still find breathtaking to this day. He was such a showman. But what caught my attention the most was what an eclectic collection of songs the album had, it all had a noticeable different sound to anything I was hearing at the time, thematically and/or sonically. I never cared much for DS, TTA and 2B, but all the angry songs helped me through my angry teen phase.

I remember ES being huge too. Far more popular than TDCAU, funny how the latter is more popular now. I think today's audience is more conscious of environmental issues, but ES really stood out at the time. SIM is hauntingly beautiful, but I don't remember it being popular. YANA was more popular than SIM.

I think MJ had a captivating gift of offering music/performances that were strikingly different in comparison to anything else at the time, I think he did this time and again in his career, but he did this for me with the History album and I've been a fan ever since♥️.
