Sorry if there is a thread on this, but I was wondering if there are any other MJ vinyl collectors here?

I've been a fan for the past 10 years, and have been collecting vinyls relating to him (and to a lesser extent, Janet) for just as long. I have amassed 60+ over the years, and it's one of my favorite things to do as a fan. I have all of his solo albums in some capacity, except Got To Be There and Blood on the Dance Floor. There are frequently new variants being released from different stores as exclusives. Recently this year, MoFi released an OTW One-Step pressing, which I'll be getting.

If you have any MJ vinyls, what are your favorites in your collection?

That's cool, do you have them in a shelf or on your wall and do you have pictures of them? 🤩

I only have three so far, there are some more I wanna buy...but I guess I need a bigger apartment first šŸ˜…. Would like to have a complete wall full of them or similar. Can't do that now.

I have them all on a shelf now. I used to have them in their own record cube, but I got rid of it. Here is a video of them when I had them in the cube. They're really not too difficult to store, honestly. I don't have a lot of space in my house either and they don't take up too much room.

I’ve been a fan since around 2012/13. I started collecting all kinds of MJ related stuff about three years ago (I already had cds of all the albums etc. but wasn’t really ā€˜collecting’). Since then it has gotten pretty big in a small time.

This includes posters, magazines, cassettes, cds, vinyl, promo material, merch, all that kind of stuff. I’ve got all the albums on vinyl, in different pressings from different countries, compilations from all over the world, limited editions etc.

I’ve since also gotten most of Janet’s albums on vinyl except for The Velvet Rope, 20 Y.O. and Unbreakable. Still keeping my eyes on those.

My MJ collection isn’t growing as fast as it did at the moment so, right now I’m mostly expending my vinyl collection with other artists, mostly Hip-hop artists from the 90’s/00’s and RnB (Nas, 2Pac, Tribe called Quest, B.I.G., Aaliyah etc.)

I’m some kind of a collector myself too. I got a vinyl player around a year ago for my birthday and naturally as an MJ fan the first vinyls i got were Michaels. Today i have all of Michaels ā€adultā€ records apart from Invinsible and History.

I also collect Elvis’ vinyls:D

I have Dangerous original pressing, Invincible remastered, Behind The Mask/Hollywood single, the recent OTW and Thriller Mofi remasters, Butterflies and You Rock My World Track Masters remixes.

I also have the diamond picture disc collection that was released.

I think that's all although if I remember more I will post.

If you guys have some pictures in case you have them arranged in a shelf or similar, I would love to see them. I wanna buy Dangerous, Ghosts Picture Vinyl and BOTDF one day...and a vinyl player 🫠

I used to collect vinyl with MJ, but I haven't bought one in 20 years. I still have my collection though (would never sell any of my MJ collection), thery're in a shelf

I have all the adult solo albums in first pressings and then some in later pressings also. I’m still on the lookout for a Blood On The Dance Floor which is such a Grail these days. Lots of fake ones flying about, so be careful.

My favourites are HIStory (obviously), and actually the MOV of Invincible which I think is a vast improvement on the CD.

Having said that, CD is actually my favourite format. It’s allowed me to remain a collector over the years (I’m a big fan of several other Artists), because the CD format is so affordable, and often times with say, Bob Dylan’s Bootleg Series, the CD box sets included everything, whereas the Vinyl versions are limited in contents.

I do like Vinyl, but not to the extent where I would pay £50, £60 for an album.

Oh, I also have This Is It which is actually a really cool vinyl box set. And the MoFi’s of Off The Wall and Thriller -which actually contradicts what I said above about not buying an album for Ā£50, Ā£60! But come on, it’s MJ!- which I also have on SACD, but don’t actually have the right setup as of yet to get the sonic benefits from them lol,

The joys of being a collector.

My favourite would be my Blood on the Dance Floor European pressing, but it needs a good cleaning. Love my HIStory gatefold, which I got for a steal - perfect quality. Another prized possession is my ET storybook.
I’ve wanted that for years. A couple of years ago I was watching brand new sealed versions on both Vinyl and Cassette. I missed the bidding on eBay as I was at work and left completely gutted. I still look at it from time to time. Perhaps this is the year for those also.

I collect CDs rather than vinyl, because they sound better, last longer and are cheaper, and portable.

I'm not a completist though. I don't have every MJ single on CD because most of them are very low value.

I started with tapes. I think I've only got about 4 or 5 vinyls. One is the MJ/Diana Ross split album, and one is the Thriller picture disc.

That's just a disgusting scam though. If we had rejected those at the beginning they wouldn't still be trying to take advantage of people.

It's not just The Estate that does it, tbf. A lot of stores have their own line of exclusive vinyl now. At least in the states.

I have a few CD singles. I have all of his adult solo albums on CD too. As well as the Bad 25 box set. I love collecting things lol

I have the thriller one, also. I want the OTW version so badly. I am saving for it.

I bought the OTW version because I have the Thriller version and if they do Bad then I’d want the entire set. I really hope they do Bad.

Off The Wall was the first MJ album I heard on vinyl. I received Thriller and Bad on cassette back in the 80’s as a kid, and one day my brother gifted me a copy of Off The Wall on vinyl and it completely blew me away when I first heard it.

Off the Wall is an amazing album. I have the picture disc of it as well as the standard release.

My favourite vinyl records are those (not available in good digital quality) that I already ripped well enough that I can forget I own them physically (the icing on the cake is if I had time to restore those rips).

Ok, I just had a look. In total, I have 30 MJ CDs and 6 J5 CDs. And 6 MJ DVDs. And a handful of tapes and vinyl, which I can't even find at the moment.

Oh, come on, let's not go there. It would be like saying Bin Laden wasn't too bad because Hitler also killed lots of people.

I love collecting things lol
I'm the opposite. I wouldn't call myself a collector. I buy stuff so I can listen to it, not so I can own it.

I resent companies trying to take advantage of me, it's the reason I've virtually stopped buying music.

Those two MoFi SACDs are great. I wouldn't recommend the vinyls though - definitely not at those ridiculous prices.

In the 80s I had a friend with Bad on vinyl and another friend with Bad on cassette. Getting the CD a couple of years later is what blew me away.

I had Bad on Cassette in 87, and some time in around 88 a guy who lived up the road from me leant me Bad on ā€œCDā€! It came with a bonus track called Leave Me Alone!! My mind was officially blown! I’ll never forget it, and the CD sounded amazing!
