I just listened to this song since really long time and, damn, I almost fell asleep. It sounds like a lullaby, really!

In parallel reality, where MJ contributed this song, it could be a potential single, but in our world it's... nothing?....

Babyface created excellent melody, I really like it and MJ vocals are actually pretty good, but quality.... omg... what the hell is wrong with quality of recording?

Michael's voice sounds perfect, but it sounds like it was recorded on some really really damaged microphone! Idk, Privacy and You Are My Life were recorded in one place? Because both songs have bad quality of voice recording. The only difference is Privacy has bad vocals and bad recording, while You Are My Life vocals are good, I really luv it, but something is wrong with quality... Idk

Anyway, Babyface was the one, who Michael should really worked with more! I like both songs he wrote for Michael. Shame Michael never really tried to really work with him

In 'You Are My Life', Michael Jackson tries to sound like Babyface.

The same goes for the 'On The Line' song (again, he tries to sound like Babyface).

Each time Michael Jackson tries to sound like someone else, the result is embarrassing and laughable.

I was just about to make a thread about this song. Been listening to it a lot recently. MJ's voice sounds somewhat strained or maybe even slightly off key at parts of this song. For example, the way he delivers the line, "That love is the answer to all that I am"; the way he sang "am" feels off, almost like his voice was cracking or something.

With noticeably shaky vocals like this, the song was clearly a last-minute addition to Invincible just a little over a month before the album came out in 2001. Compare it to "Speechless", a similarly cheesy ballad that was recorded two years prior in 1999. I wonder how many days after 9/11 this song was recorded.

It could be a good choice, that MJ swapped this song over Shout, if it was THE ONLY SONG THAT HE DIDN'T WRITE.

Unfortunately this song, just like eleven others has nothing to do with MJ, so this swapping didn't change anything

Shout? You Are My Life? Who cares! Both songs are not suitable for MJ SOLO album

Little Red Winky, your cracking me up 🤣

What about ending of the song?

Third chorus:

You are the sun (You are the sun)
You make me shine (You make me shine)
Or more like the stars
That twinkle at night (Twinkle at night)
You are the moon (You are the moon)
That glows in my heart (Glows in my heart)
You're my daytime, my nighttime, my world
You are the sun (You are the sun)
You make me shine (You make me shine)
Or more like the stars
That twinkle at night (Twinkle at night)
You are the moon (You are the moon)
That glows in my heart (Glows in my heart)
You're my daytime, my nighttime, my world
You are the sun (You are the sun)
You make me shine (You make me shine)
Or more like the stars
That twinkle at night (Twinkle at night)
You are the moon (You are the moon)
That glows in my heart (Glows in my heart)
You're my daytime, my nighttime, my world
You are my life

It sounds like a typical MJ outro to me....
