For some reason (maybe because I am European) I never paid much attention to the lyrics of 'Slapstick' and 'Hot Street', and thought it was just a too poppy disco tune for inclusion on the 'Thriller' album. Now I am kinda obsessed by it. A big part of the song is about prostitution and it's pretty dark in general, like more of his later songs including 'Hollywood'. So I was wondering if it maybe evolved into 'Streetwalker' (and Hot Fever?).. And if 'Streetwalker' evolved into 'The Way You Make Me Feel' than maybe TWYMMF is actually about a prostitute too..? It would explain the Skid Row theme of the video..?

TWYMMF was recorded in 1985 with SW being created in 86

Hot Fever is just the working title for TWYMMF....it's not a different song.

The songs do dance the line of Michael having the hots for hookers.
 
While arguably similar, "The Way You Make Me Feel" and "Streetwalker" are separate songs.

"Streetwalker" evolved into "Dangerous".

don't feel bad for not paying attention. I wasn't paying attention and I didn't put two and two together after reading this post - and im an American ! šŸ˜­šŸ˜­ I don't think I will listen to TWYMMF the same again

Wat? In the music video to "The Way You Make Me Feel", MJ's just hollering at a girl he saw on the street. None of the girls in that video were hookers.

So you must see a lot of scantily dressed women. They're not all hookers obviously, not even close

I mean most of them are probably Thotianas but that doesn't make them prostitutes lol

I knew that actually but perhaps it does make the link to Hot Street and TWYMMF stronger

Hmm they are separate songs but they are so similar that I do think they are very connected, maybe have the same origin
