I couldn’t find an existing thread for this so here we go.
I thought about this while trying to decipher the lyrics of TYLA: I’ve noticed that often partially incorrect lyrics of a bunch of songs are displayed on streaming services such as Spotify. A few that come to mind are ‘Whatever Happens’, ‘Morphine’ and ‘Superfly Sister’,of which the right lyrics are in the album booklets, but somehow they are different on steaming services.
There is one line though in the third verse of Streetwalker which I think has been wrongly displayed since it released, by even the Estate. Streaming services and the MJ experience game, authorized by the Estate, present the lyrics as:
“I hear you walkin' 'cause your body's talkin' to me
I chase you every step of the way, yeah, yeah”
The second line doesn’t seem right to me. What I hear is: “One gesture and you said ‘come, go with me’, yeah yeah.”
Do you agree and why is it that a lot of released MJ songs have the wrong lyrics in streaming platforms?
