"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

Smooth72 I will make sure i mark the day you said you wont go and see Michael the movie as if your a true Mj fan you will want to go. 1. For the music 2. For the dancing. 3. For the story and 4. To see how someone so close to him portrays his Uncle! I call you out now, if your true fan you wont be able to stop yourself.
True fan. Good one lol. what exactly makes a true fan?

To go and watch the movie because of what i stated.
Only way I’m paying money to go watch this is.
1. Jaffar not signing the songs
2. If they address the molestation claims
3. If the movie isn’t white wash and doesn’t suck.

If not it will be on streaming shortly after release and I will watch it then.

It doesn’t make you a real fan just to buy everything the Estate puts out. Let’s be real most of the releases so far have not been up to Michael Jackson standards. Judge all you want but some fans on here are delusional and down right embarrassing. Keep it real bro 😎.

yall are being so overdramatic and intense over a movie you haven't seen 1 scene of yet
Well, certain people feel strongly about certain things that you may not. For example, a lot of Tron fans did not go to see Tron: Ares the past week because of Jared Leto's involvement (over allegations that have been hanging over him for years). I agree it's silly to get worked up online over a film (people get worked up over much less on here and elsewhere), but people don't need to see so much as a clip if they decide not to go for their own reasons. I'm undecided yet. But I loathe biopics anyway.

i also feel strongly about this biopic, and if you see my old replies in this thread you'll see that for yourself. but i realize that at the end of the day it's just a movie, a project i have absolutely no control over. I think that speaking catastrophic predictions on this movie is as stupid and harmful as putting blind faith into it. everywhere on the internet i see fans being very extreme with this movie and it's tiring.

This is one of the most highly anticipated films of 26! Was 25! Ok apologise i should not of said true fan its just these days there is not much to be excited about in the Mj community so I wish everybody would be excited over some new mj entertainment and that's how I see it. To have his music and dancing will be enough to get me to the cinema.

Anyways, everyone knows that a "true fan" is calculated by how many Invincible songs are in their top 10 ;)

Tbh can’t remember when the last update was but it was more of the same fluff considering we’re what 6 years on from LN.
I think Taj’s latest update was either on MJCast or his YouTube channel: he said that all the Jacksons (Including Janet) are tied from releasing any of their own products until the biopic is released, according to the Estate.

This is not aimed at you in particular, but I genuinely think Taj has just been in a series of unfortunate events that have affected the documentary series’ production, with the pandemic, his father’s passing, the extended biopic production preventing release, etc. Have been following the project updates closely (mostly limited to his YouTube channel, project page, and MJCast, which might be part of the problem); he has knowledgeable people behind it and aiming for a timeless record of Michael’s story, and seems genuinely invested in creating something that his “uncle would be proud of”, as he said they both shared love of filmmaking. The skepticism of release is fair, but some fans (not anyone here afaik) take it too far.

Even Mariah Carey said she was blocked from releasing a MJ related song because of a big upcoming project the Estate were preparing for (logically sound to conclude this project is the biopic).

Wow, this is actually quite telling... They surely mean serious business with this movie.
On the other hand, if the movie does Michael's legacy justice, Mariah's song might as well profit from the movie's success if released in the aftermath.

He could've been clearer about that. People would understand. But his updates don't convey any of these problems.

Edit: I think it's shitty Janet can't release anything. Mariah, ok, it's a collaboration, she got other music and projects. But Janet? Janet is not releasing anything at all. For over a decade.

I'm sure she can do what she wants ,is it because she wants to do her own movie remember her doing an interview saying it was in the works,

New joiner here!
While I understand the disappointment about whether or not the movie will address the allegations, I honestly believe there’s so much more to MJ’s story than just that.
When it comes to the allegations, there’s mainstream media propaganda on one side and the actual facts on the other. The facts are out there, but unfortunately, it’s mostly fans or people who are already open to/curious about MJ who take the time to do the homework.
If the movie does well, more people may be encouraged to look at MJ with an open mind and search for the facts themselves. There are incredible resources online (from podcasts to well-documented websites) that give a fuller picture of his life.
I just hope the film will humanize MJ and show the side of him that’s rarely seen. I’m from Africa, and I remember so clearly when he passed away, it felt like many people forgot he was human. It was surreal.
I hope the film shows the struggles and battles he faced, like living with vitiligo and lupus, and what he endured to entertain the world. The fact that he had such a career despite those challenges is extraordinary. He grew up on stage, and out of his 50 years, 40 were spent entertaining the world, by his 20s he went from being famous to being idolized and become a kind of living legend. A name everyone knew, without really KNOWING the person behind. He could not experience a normal life at all. That’s a life no one has lived, and one I wouldn’t wish on anyone, because it ultimately destroyed him.
I wish the movie will show that, will show the humanitarian he was, and above all show how much of a consistent person he was through his life, from his youth to all the way when he became that living legend both in his humanitarian endeavors as well as his relationship with children even in the face of adversity.
Haters will always hate, and i have been in haters thread, i believe they are the real psycho and they want to MJ to be part of them to feel less like the weirdos they are. But beyond the haters and the fans, there’s a large group of people who might finally see him differently.

Let's take this as true for a second - How did the Estate not know about this? Isn't it known that Evan Chandler tried to sue MJ after the release of HIStory because in his eyes the album reneged on this agreement and he threatened to come out with EVANstory? Whether true or not, if fans are aware of the story then it might have been an idea for the most successful Estate in recent history with world class lawyers to look into it before a penny was spent on production.

The rumours about the 3rd act being cut (allegations) and the whole thing needing to be rewritten would surely explain the delays?

I honestly believe that this is true and have thought so ever since the rumours came out.

Instead we’re gonna get a greatest hits movie up until the late 80s, probably ending with the Bad tour and no mention of allegations - basically a white wash.

The whole 90’s period scrapped and the dangerous tour official photo we got is now redundant.

It would have been powerful to have the 93 case included but since legally they can’t, the movie will be watered down.

What you’re describing is NOT what a white wash would be.
If the movie goes until 1992 even, there is no need for a whitewash, as the things in question happened later on.
And one thing’s for sure, if they end the movie early (meaning in the 80ies) there will be a second part, which then can deal with all the BS from 93 onwards, they just need to use the arvizo case, or a fictionalized merging of the cases into one, which could show all the meaningful plot points, based on the historical correct facts.

There will be one movie , I’m certain of that. A second half full of child abuse allegations , weird behaviour and further turmoil will be a hard sell to the audience.

It’s Michael’s life but the expectations that Jaafar pulling off a 45 year old MJ could work are extremely low.

The 2005 case everyone knows about as it was played out in public , MJ got an not guilty verdict but the 93 case is where everything started to go wrong.

I’m telling ya, I expect this to be a whitewash.

All just my opinion of course 😊

@newbie! The hit the nail on the head! Apart from crappy Man in the mirror film, and the one with Navi which was cringe worthy nothing has ever been done well to show our True Michael! The nearest decent portrayal was the jackson an American dream! Even if this first one(i do believe there will be a hunger for a second one) showcases the music , the dance and of course the fight that Michael had once he became famous, how kind he was and unconditionally he was a humanitarian in the sense that no matter where he went he wanted to help kids and people in general. I cannot wait!

i wish you would stop platforming/giving visibility to Karen Faye. She recently posted personal photos of Michael and was recently called out for describing something related to his death in a very graphic, uncalled way. he Is no longer alive and can't give consent to half the shit she posts about him to draw attention to herself. let her fall into oblivion.

Disagree. Her posts aren’t for the “faint of heart” but those caring about the truth. Sometimes she oversteps by sharing Michael’s thoughts on celebrities etc.
But she’s almost the only one who tells openly about her experience, in a very human, vulnerable way. She talks very openly about the trauma she went through, throughout the years.
And she isn’t after money or attention, she just wants to share the truth.
She has a lot of harsh criticism for people who were in Michael’s life who are after attention through selling stories etc.

Wait, she did what!?
She talked about the state of his body after the autopsy when she needed to make him look good for the family.
Something that pertains to bodies after thorough autopsies in general.

She was clumsy with words so to many readers it sounded more graphic than it was. She clarified that.
I don’t recommend looking it up.

One thing I will say about Karen is the abuse she receives from fans is completely unacceptable.

This is someone who Michael spent a large portion of his life working with and is very much in the know . Some fans think they know more than her and the stuff she posts is bullshit.

She at least tells it as it is, unlike how this movie will portray him.
