Celebrating the 15th Anniversary of "Michael" (2010)

The focus after Michael's death was mainly on his music. It seemed like everyone was in love with Michael again. The allegations weren't the main talking point, and we were still a few years removed from the fake Robson and Safechuck allegations. The Michael album could have been a great seller. Posthumous albums don't really sell all that well, but I seriously believe that without the fake songs, Michael's album could have sold as well as Invincible. In the end, it barely sold anything and was off the music charts after a few weeks, thanks to the idiotic Estate and Sony.

The album should not have been released in 2010 with 3 fake songs, the estate probably thought the fans would not notice it, which showed me at the time that they do not take fans seriously
It also shows that they had absolutely no respect for Michael's life's work, because this carelessness in the production stands in stark contrast to his perfectionism. Teddy Riley also has absolutely no backbone. If he did, he wouldn't have touched the fake songs in the first place and would have told the Estate what he really thought, and made that public.

What's worse, to push the lie in public for years and years. 2022 was when he finally admitted that he was spineless.

good that nowadays they take fans seriously and for sure not gaslighting them all the time :p

I kinda felt bad for Teddy in a way for being caught up in the mess, and I thought it would have been a difficult position to be in generally. The latest revelations about his participation and his actions made me feel totally differently though. Genuinely was a scumbag once he realised he could make more money and just went along with it.

I dont like nothing about this album except the artwork. it wasnt talked about enough. I wish he was alive to see it. there were similar ones owned by other artist but nothing came close to the full size version....which i cannot find in a hd

Worst producer for me is probably Tricky Stewart. I don’t care for ā€œKeep Your Head Up,ā€ but I really enjoy the swung rhythm of the drums on the original demo. All Tricky did was put a new drum pattern on that doesn’t hit nearly as well. Just lazy work altogether.
There's a demo of a fake song?

I'm pretty sure Michael had this artwork commissioned while alive

He talks in detail about it here if people are interested.

He didn't actually start the painting until after MJ had passed away but he did speak to him about having a large painting made that shows his life story, seems it wasn't started because of MJ's legal issues.

Thank you for the finer details and the link, I couldn’t find it.

After Michael's death, many people rediscovered his art or became fans. The cover of the Michael album attempts to appeal to all these people by evoking the different phases of his work. The obvious goal, therefore, seems to have been to encourage as many of these people as possible to buy the album. For me, the cover is thus more commercially driven than artistically significant.

Nah, the album did about as well as one would have expected. They remixed MJ's outtakes without drastically altering them, unlike Xscape years later.

"Hold My Hand" was a hit; it wasn't big, but what do you expect when it was basically an Akon song recorded in 2007? None of the other tracks were single material; unless they were remixed to better suit 2010 and featured people like Bruno Mars or Usher, they were never gonna do well on the charts.

The Cascio fiasco didn't do the album any favors, but it's not like MJ's reputation was ever totally fixed from the allegations.

Are you MJ_Frenzy's alter ego?

I could have just said that I find the cover cheap and tacky. Just absolutely unworthy of Michael Jackson.
It would have been better to use a photo from L'Uomo Vogue and Ebony sessions. But realness and authenticity wasn't the motto of this project anyway.

By the way, Michael has already sold more than 5 million copies. Quite astonishing when you think about everything that went wrong.
There were also two releases under the Estate’s agreement with Sony Music – Michael, which was the first release of previously unfinished tracks that were worked on by various producers who had worked with Michael. Notwithstanding the controversy about three of the tracks on that album, it went to #1 around the world and sold more than five million copies.
