"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

What does "chinese censors" mean? :p
Chinese cinema censorship is a strict, state-controlled process overseen by the China Film Administration (under the Publicity Department of the Chinese Communist Party) and related bodies like the National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA). All films, domestic, foreign, or co-productions must undergo pre-release review and approval, with no age-rating system; content is either passed as suitable for all audiences or rejected/banned outright, often requiring edits to remove elements deemed harmful. Prohibited topics include anything that could undermine national unity, portray China negatively, challenge Communist Party ideology, depict excessive violence/sexuality/superstition, distort history, or touch on sensitive issues like politics, ethnicity, religion, Taiwan, or foreign relations.

Thats wild! And if you wrote all of that yourself you should be awarded the most informative post of 2026 to this date :) Thanks!

They will probably censor Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Taiwan.

A little recap of the "perfect" production of Bohemian Rhapsody:

Bohemian Rhapsody was to feature Sacha Baron Cohen as Freddie Mercury. In July 2013, Baron Cohen left the project due to creative differences. Allegedly, he had wanted a "gritty R-rated tell-all" focused on Mercury, while Queen hoped for a PG-rated film about the band.

Dexter Fletcher was selected as the film's director but removed himself from the project the following year. Bryan Singer was announced as the director.

On 4 December 2017, Bryan Singer was fired as director, with about two weeks of scheduled principal photography remaining, Dexter Fletcher was announced as Singer's replacement.

Result: 900+ mln box office, 4 Oscars and 500% growth of interest in Queen's music all around the world.

Yet June 1995:

"Diane Sawyer: Why did you settle the case then?

Michael: The whole thing is a lie.

Diane Sawyer: How much money.....

Michael: Totally outraged. So, I said...I have got to do something to get out from under this nightmare. All these lies and all these people coming forth to get paid and all these tabloid shows, just lies, lies, lies, lies. So what I did, we got together again with my advisors and they advised me. It was a hands down, unanimous decision - resolve the case. This could be something that could go on for seven years!....

Michael: The idea, it just isn't fair...what they put me through. 'Cause there wasn't one piece of information that says I did that. And anyway, they turned my room upside-down, went through all my books, all my videotapes, all my private things, and they found nothing, nothing, nothing that could say Michael Jackson did this. Nothing!

Diane Sawyer: But let me ask you a couple of questions....

Michael: To this day, nothing. Still, nothing.

Diane Sawyer: Let me ask you ....

Michael: Nothing, nothing, nothing."

So even with the settlement with NDA there are still ways to express your side of story. And his album HIStory is another great example.

The trade off here, is that the majority of Queen fans who would visit their own version of MJJC on a daily basis do not like the film.

I am not worried about the box office (It's going to do well regardless) I just hope it isn't as sh*t as Bohemian Rhapsody.

Evan sued everyone who made that interview because of the NDA.

And Michael was sued by Evan and Jordie Chandler as a result. They lost the case, but they couldn’t take a risk like that in a movie. It would be completely destructive.

Box office success is not an indicator of a good movie

Michael was sued during and after his life by hundreds if not thousands of morons. Good lawyers could advise how to depict the allegations without a risk to be sued.

There isn’t a way of doing it without a risk of being sued, otherwise they would have done. Try reading the settlement.

I think it's this. The last Victory Tour show looks prominent based on the teasers we've seen.
Could be, maybe that famous video: ‘I’d like to say this is our last and final tour.
It’s been a wonderful 20 years.’ Or pepsi accident. It’s between those 2 for me, though the former is more likely.
