The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

If this ā¬†ļø resembles the real one, I think it would be more at home on the early epic releases. Like ā€žThe Jacksonsā€œ or ā€žGoinā€˜ Placesā€œ rather than ā€žTriumphā€œ, ā€žVictoryā€œ or especially ā€žBadā€œ!

Random question, but where did the claim that Michael recorded a song called "Splash! We Can Get Wet Babe!"?
He’s credited as a songwriter on one of the copyright websites (BMI, if I’m recalling correctly), alongside at least two other Jacksons. I always presumed it was a sample he was credited for.

not sure how much all of this was stuff you guys were aware of, know some of it was but some of it i had never seen online before. Initially shared this message with fellow tracker editors but figured I could post it here as well.

Monster DOES have more recorded vocals than just the lead vocal bit we heard, whether or not they appear in any mixdowns i'm not sure of, he recorded so many vocals that the tape was completely full by the time he was done.
MJ did beatboxing for the song.
The track was recorded over the course of 1 week.
The version with the complete hook is from 1999 (although Damien said 1998 for some reason? Either someone misremembered or there are versions from both 98 and 99 with the full chorus)
The instrumental was already well evolved before the chorus was added.
MJ absolutely loved the mix that was done for his headphones.
There were multiple rough mixes given to Michael to listen to outside of the studio.

I still have no clue who the other singer on the song is though which is the main thing i wanna figure out lol.

update i literally just figured out right after posting this after consulting a different source. Derek DeGrate claims to be the other vocalist. He also claims that Threatened was inspired by Monster (Really giving me Loren vibes with this one) but I honestly think this is just him misattributing generic elements to the song.

It was some copyright registration. There was never an exclamation in the title though oddly enough in all of the records that I can find it it is simply "Splash We Can Get Wet Babe" and "Splash, We Can Get Wet, Babe". Some registrations for the song don't credit MJ at all as a contributor. Earliest confirmed date is it's at least from August 1994 or earlier. Was frequently re-registered with other songs MJ held publishing rights to due to deals and licensed samples. I'm 99% sure this is just a sample and not an actual song MJ had anything to do with.

Danny Brack, the main writer is also credited on "Seven Bright New Stars" which has credits also from Latoya Jackson and Lionel Richie. So I doubt that's an actual song as well.

Update: I just found a song this guy did genuinely what theFUCK is this LMFAOO

This is his only song I can find atm will update again if I find more.

More vocals than ā€œyou’ve created a monsterā€? Verses? Scratch vocals?

All ik is the tape was full meaning he recorded quite a bit. Could be skeletal ideas in there for verses or a bridge since during recording he would ask for the tape to be manually wound back to the part of the song he wanted to do. I'm 99.999999% sure there's no actual proper verses with lyrics or anything like that but the fact is there IS more, which is exciting. More than likely just skeletal ideas, harmonies, adlibs.

When asked about that Damien said all that was recorded was the ā€œyou’vecreated a monsterā€ just stacked the vocals of that line

Michael Prince said there were no lead vocals, just a chorus

"We have an MJ song (vocals only in the chorus) called Monster." - Michael Prince

Yeah i know what he has said about it. He filled the entire tape with stuff, doesn't mean it actually got into a mixdown like I said and that doesn't mean it was any sort of lead vocal, again could be random ideas, adlibs, who knows.

He would have a slave reel to record vocals on to sub-mixes of the instrumental backing track… Layering and stacking the vocals was done for the chorus on ā€œMonsterā€, and that would have been all the backing vocals. Michael usually did BV’s before recording any scratch lead vocals or final lead vocal.

As it seems Michael had the idea for the chorus vocal part - ā€œyou created a monsterā€ etc. - yet never got around to doing a scratch vocal for the melody & rough lyrics… He often ad-libbed on the scratch vocal part, more so than the BV’s as these are obviously multitracked.

Whatever it is, the vocals on the multitrack tape with any real substance would be the existing chorus vocals… who knows if Michael ever did a scratch lead vocal for ā€œMonsterā€.
