The Official 'Michael' Bio-Pic Thread

the fact that you’re still discussing that is so irritating, repeating the same points again and again. On behalf of that girl and the entire planet i apologize to you.. i will also scrutinize the questions asked by people coming with me so that they don’t upset you.
2 of you asked. I responded. I said, I'm done discussing this.

Yeah she's gushing now that it's popular to like MJ again, but when mj asked her on date back then she rejected him. She probably didn't want to be associated with him then. I doubt MJ wanted anything serious with her, just dinner and night of talking. And she said no to that.

Fake and phoney.
read that somewhere, how factual is it?

If you don’t mind me saying:

That’s an awful lot of hate for someone you’ve, presumably, never met, based on a “probably”?

Even if you’ve read something, somewhere - we all know, from personal experience with MJ - things can be twisted. 👍❤️

I was not there to observe any of that so I can not verify any of the above.

I am just happy that celebrities feel comfortable sharing MJ stuff on their platforms again as its creating a ripple effect. I would still be happy about that even if she denied Michael a date 20 years ago or whenever it was :)

Agressive? It's an idiotic critique/request for something that is irrelevant/implied by the previous conversation. There is so much more important stuff missing and someone can't draw their own conlusion to something that was said a scene earlier? Also it's something that was private to Michael and he didn't really talk about. So why would that be spelled out in the movie?
This is a ridiculous take. you can't dictate what people should think. For an MJ newbie, it's a perfectly reasonable q to ask and you've been very rude in response.

Besides, no one is under an obligation to accept a date if they don't want to. Doens't make them a monster.

“Could be 100 people going 36 thousand times?”

Remember that little doozy!?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You can laugh about it all you want. I keep reading the comments over and over and over how people have been going back 7, 8, 9 times to see the movie. That is a fact. Whether you can admit it or not.

China is a market which has done not that well and where Bohamian was much better.

And it’s still doing massive numbers, despite that? WOW! 👏

Mind you, MICHAEL smashing Bo Rap, already, in the massive US market, and having only been out 17 days in China, compared with Bo Rap having about 6 months, there’s time yet 👍❤️👏👌💪

Brad Sundberg sent a newsletter about the Biopic:

Michael is packing theaters, and moviegoers around the globe are having a blast rediscovering (or being introduced to) his music and persona! Early reports show the movie has grossed nearly $600M in its first three weeks.

Every indication suggests it will surpass $1B in global ticket sales over the next few weeks. Audiences seem to love it (97% on Rotten Tomatoes), while critics, not so much (39% on Rotten Tomatoes). Seems about right, lol.

So what did I think of the film? If you want to hear my full thoughts, my buddy Jared Bradshaw and I did an entire podcast episode discussing the movie immediately after leaving the theater! You can watch our full review here:

For a shorter answer, here are a few thoughts:

I think the cast was great, starting with young Michael. I think the "drama" between Michael and Joseph was presented well —perhaps, sorry to say, even a bit restrained. Joseph was very strict with those boys, but as Michael stated on a number of occasions (including to me personally) he would not be the performer he became without Joseph. So, like many things, it's complicated.

I thought the music was great, and the performances were a lot of fun to watch. I do wish they had spent a bit more time on teen Michael (Dancing Machine, etc.), but the movie's pace had to stay brisk. Jafaar did an exceptional job emulating Michael's very unique dancing, walking, and mannerisms. That is no small feat and he did a great job.

Did the movie "reveal" things about Michael that many fans didn't already know? Not really, but to me, that was never the point. What the movie did do was introduce an entire generation to the Michael many of us grew up with.

I have talked to so many people of various ages about the film, and some are listening to his discography all the way through for the first time, and others are remembering the magic again, which is what made Michael so special in the first place.

Did it capture every detail correctly? No.
Did it get the chronology perfect? No.
Did it gloss over countless people and events from Michael's early years? Yes.
Does that matter?

Well, let me answer it this way:

A close friend of ours has a young son in the 4th grade. He has no memory of Michael other than a few songs on the radio or hearing his name in passing. He has seen the movie at least twice and is now learning the dances, watching the original videos, and singing Michael's songs! No one is pushing him to do this, but it's as if a giant window has opened for him, and I think it's great to watch. He asks questions and is fascinated by Michael, like many of us were years ago, and I call that a win.

Ah, I also want to include the obligatory dad joke he has in every mail:

Why is a piano so hard to open? Because the keys are on the inside.

🤡
