"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

Hmm...there's really not much of a resemblance. Maybe the casting director should've spent more effort on the search.
She's on the IMdb page cast as a 'kid'. Whatever that means. Now there's obviously some online chat going on about her playing Paris although I can't find any confirmation of that. As for the resemblance, that's nothing the make-up and lighting people can't fix. The resemblance is slight but there's enough for them to build on. Her acting skills will be more important. I don't see any resemblance between Nia Long and Katherine or Colman Domingo and Joe but the shots we've seen so far seem pretty good, I would say.

Hmm, wouldn't she be a little to old to play Paris during Michael's lifetime?
Depends on how much they want to show. Actors almost always are older than the child character they are playing. She's 15, I believe, and apparently plays characters aged 13 - 17. If she really is going to play Paris that might mean they'd be doing something with TII. I know Paris was only 11 when Michael died but they could probably just about do it. SmoothGangsta is right, though. I guess we just have to wait for official announcements.

Could they possibly be aiming to end the movie some years post his passing?? That would be unexpected...
I did wonder that. Apparently, Peyton also sings. I wondered if they might be planning a scene with teenage Paris singing something (in her bedroom, whatever). I mean, that's just a wild, wild guess. There's so much of Michael's life that will have to be left out of the film, who knows if they would want to go beyond his death even just briefly. 🤔

Interesting concept tbf and defo unexpected if that was the case.

A post death scene showing the kids all upset maybe cuddling the dog that Michael bought them? 😔

Question - are there any objections against including Wade and James in the films and their testimony during the trial? I mean it's a fact they gave testimony and it is known what they said. If so, could they be named by their proper names? Is there any legal objection to that? Would the Estate dare to do that?

If I may correct you on this one - he did sing on that night!!!
Oh, for sure! When I said he 'didn't really sing' that's what I meant. He sang a few lines of the song and that was it. And it was fine but there was some confusion about whether he was meant to sing the entire song. Personally, I don't care. He looked luminous, he sounded great, he looked SO happy, his clothes were off-the chart gorgeous. The reception he got was insane. I love the whole thing.

True, it was only a couple of line before they cut of the sound, but I very distinctly remember hearing his voice being surprisingly clear and high, he reached sounds I didn't think a man of his age could. I'm not sure if the Guiness world record thing was the element that attracted the insanely high percentage of MJ fans in the audience (estimated 90% I would say were MJ fans!!), or the fact this was the first big thing after the trial, but the evening could very well be a special part from his later years in the movie. The crowd went completely berserk when he appeared!! I almost get teared up just thinking about that night.
(y)

EILY and YWT are very special because I estimate these were the only two times he sang to people he trully innerly loved a lot!! It would serve well for showing Michael didn't need special effects, glittery clothes and a complex coreograophy to create a dramatic performance.
Exactly so.

These are my thoughts on it, they most likely have their own agenda I guess.
Indeed. And we won't find out until the thing is released. But it's interesting to speculate.

We can all keep debating about the running time of the movie
Oh, I dunno about that, mate! I think I'm all done with convos about the possible running time! i might need to go and lie down, lol. :ROFLMAO:

until the latest Jaafar set pic gets released or the teaser trailer ha
I'm interested to see what the next thing is. Another casting announcement or more photos from the set?

They will absolutely not be in the film in any shape or form.

These cretins do not deserve to be part of a potential 1 billion blockbuster movie. Their names should be in the gutter only.

I bet they would love to be namechecked. They are nothing.

Do not get me wrong, I despise them more than anything, but wouldn't the movie be a great oportunity to broadcast their backstabbing and hypocrisy?

But this isn't Lawrence of Arabia. That also had intermission. This is a Michael Jackson biopic that aims to get the biggest audience it can get. It would be risky to make it too long. Maybe release a extended cut on Blu-Ray/dvd.
Well, Lawrence of Arabia was closer to 4 hours. Surly in this day and age the life of Michael Jackson is more culturally relevant and impactful than that of a British solder during WWI set in the Middle East?

The first aim should be to create a masterful retelling of Michael’s life as accurate as humanly possible that finally allows the audience to understand why he was so different and eccentric and talented. Do that and success will follow.

So the first aim needs to be making a perfect film, not so much worrying about whether 5 or 6 year olds will get bored or if people need to pee. This will only be a success if it’s told and presented in the way that it deserves to be. It’s simply too important to get wrong. And it’s bigger than minor gripes such as the above mentioned.

Surely Michael’s life is more interesting and eventful than that of T.E. Laurence? His 50 year life was literally packed with big significant moments.

I completely understand where the director is coming from in making Michael an epic film. His life was simply too big and complicated to squeeze into anything less.

I’m sure I forgot a few, but even then, if a lot of the more minor details are left out, you still have a hell of a task to fit all of the major moments plus over 30 songs into anything less that 3 hours. Obviously a lot of the songs will be overlaid to footage. This isn’t Elvis or Freddie Mercury. Respect to both, but Michael’s life was lived through a much greater lens and lived on a much bigger scale. Am I wrong?

No, you are definitely not wrong!!
And yes, if they do go pass June 25th 2009, they should absolutely serve some numbers that show it was a one off moment... including the internet breaking.

I know all of the above moments but even my mind is absolutely fried looking at those details.

You try cramming so much into a movie and your audience will zone out halfway through. You're just not getting it.

This is a movie for entertainment, go read a book if you want Michael's entire life acted out page by page ffs.

[...]

Vitiligo - also Lupus. Not obvious bc it's not visible but massive impact on Michael's health. Not saying it should be mentioned but it's a significant part of his life that constantly gets overlooked, imo.

10 year FBI investigation - strictly speaking it wasn't a 10 year investigation. Within a 10 - 12 year period there were two periods when the FBI assisted the police investigations. The FBI activity didn't go on continuously for 10 years.

June 25th 2009/ MJ breaks the internet - probably won't happen but I'd love it if this was included.
Epic is the word.

No. You’re not getting it! This is a plea for the world to finally understand who this man was!

You‘re telling people to “go read a book” yet suggesting they won’t have an attention span of 3 hours!

This film will be a long film whether you like it or not so you’re going to have to just deal I guess. The premise is much bigger than your specific needs.

You truly don’t seem to be able to grasp what they’re trying to achieve here.

I don't think they are saying all this stuff has to be included. Unless I misunderstood what I was reading. I just thought it was a list of most of the major things that happened to Michael to show the epic scale of his life.

Correct! I also said that presumably a lot of the minor details would be left out.
Point being that even then, Michael‘s life was eventful to say the least.

It was a list off the top of my head as a lifelong fan. I forgot many things such as the Primetime interview with Lisa Marie, the Barbara Walters interview “I am not a Jacko!” etc. lots of significant details.

The film will show us both the artist and the man, I wouldn't expect anything less.

A 3 hour film at the very max would be fine but it needs to keep the audience engaged. If it's boring it will seriously suck and you will feel every minute of the runtime.

It cannot cover every moment in Michael’s life, only the highlights. The film needs to flow. Why even bother wasting valuable minutes on the likes of Invincible for example.

Seems they are going to cover his later years as well then, in some way at least.

Honestly this film has kinda dodged all my expectations for it.

Long film, actually covering his whole life? Not what I was expecting.

Obviously we don't know how it'll be edited and they haven't finished filming yet, but I am feeling a lot better about this project than I was.
Mate you've summed up exactly how I feel too

You’re missing my point friend. I’m sure it will be able to keep an audience engaged for 3 hours. I’ve watched films with less significance that ran over 3 hours.

They have one opportunity to do this and it has to do a number of things, most importantly it has to humanise Michael Jackson and that can only be achieved by showing the world in as much a way as they possibly can what he went through and had to deal with.

If they can achieve that, then success will filter through. One thing I do believe, beyond any doubt, is that this film will be massively successful and highly anticipated.

I kinda lost track of your point but this seems insane to me. No offense.

Pick 20 of these things and let's just leave it at that, honestly. Not even Wikipedia is this comprehensive.

In the context of these being moments of milestones in MJs life, I can mostly agree. It's a lot of superfan knowledge though, definitely.

My point, from the not so distant past, was that the film doesn't need to be 4 hours long, just to be comprehensive.

It doesn't need to be anything of course.

I don't even think it needs to be the most comprehensive MJ tool. It just needs to complement his already monumental career and the Works he already has. A good stepping stone, not some sort of epilogue.

At the end of the day, the focus should stay on his Music, shouldn't it? That's where the true MJ biography lies really.

The point I’m trying to make is that Michael’s life can be a 3 hour film without it being boring or lagging or tailing off. He had a life that was compelling enough to hold a persons attention span for 3 hours.

I’m not suggesting that every minute detail of his life be included, just that it was full of significant events to demonstrate how big his life story actually is.

Outside of the music some pretty significant things happened. If some of those are not addressed then the audience doesn’t learn anything new. They need to grasp his humanity.

Anyway, I think I’ve probably made my point by now.

As you say, it doesn’t need to be anything, but I sure hope it will be something. To say the least.
