"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

i bet she will play Orianthi.
Yep, that's also possible. She's listed as a 'concert goer' which could mean anything. A YANA girl if they decide to include that? I don't know why you'd give someone a place on the main cast list for something so small. Jennifer or Orianthi seems more likely.

Doesn't look like her and she looks 2-3 years older than paris was when MJ died.

Paris around the time of Michael's death and last years of his life. She looked like a little girl when he died not a teenager.

Paris was born in 1998, so she was just 11 years old when her father passed. Prince is just one year older, so neither of them would've had it easy at all, facing that trauma at such a young age.

3 hours is not too long and it should be the absolute minimum considering we will have different stages of his life filmed. Each era they did needs time to breath, it can’t be rushed. You can’t for example talk about a non existent childhood (which i assume will be an important theme in the film) and then rush that era with just 10min of footage. [...]
I was just wondering if Rose Fine will be featured in the film. She gave such a lot of motherly care to Michael as well as being the boys' tutor. If they were trying to illustrate Michael's childhood it would be so easy to slot her into a scene. 🤔

Maybe they should leave something for the possible sequel. Not everything needs to be in one movie. Long epic movie would be interesting but can Jaafar carry a 3 hour movie? I don't think he has much acting experience so it could he risky.
You can’t really have a sequel to a biopic, especially if it’s comprehensive and covers the span of Michael’s life. I think Jaafar will be fine as he’s being supported by a very good director and a brilliant acting cast. He’ll learn a hell of a lot about the craft of acting, that’s for sure. He seems to be in very good and safe hands. There’s definitely a massive responsibility on his shoulders but with the right crew and support let’s hope he can deliver the performance of his life. This will elevate him to a whole new celebratory status should he pull it off and the film is a box office hit.

This part here would be 'new' to me.

This part here ? ...groundhog day.

be interesting to see how they execute this.

We are here for it.
Your post has an engaging approach to me. TY| for it
Thank you very much. The film needs to hit on a few uncomfortable issues and be quite hard hitting to grip the audience and of course aside from it being one of the most important biographies in years, let’s not forget that its a drama. It’s got to have some lows to balance the highs. It’s got to whisk us all away on that emotional roller coaster.

I do not expect the film to be in linear order. Biopics rarely just show someone being born and then go over their chronological line until they die.

Gotta think more creatively. 2005 or 2009 would be a great throughline for the film to work it's way over.
Exactly. Big modern biopics on this scale flash forwards and back. It could begin at the end or even right in the middle etc. It has to have a frenetic energy throughout and keep the viewer enthralled and caught up in the drama of being pulled into different moments to keep it all exciting.

If we begin in Gary Indiana and move our way forward through the story in that linear fashion, then that could feel like a slog at 3 hours. But that won’t be the case. They’ll want the film to be paced in that frenetic way. All modern epic films use that trick actually, Avatar, Endgame etc.

Hmm.. :unsure:Again , another great thought provoking post . @MegaMix12” I like how you have been thinking carefully about this project.

Yes please.

Ok here's my thought. It may sound weird. What if they just put on the outfit from Studio 54 in '77 but it's supposed to be (what they are shooting) the 1978 Wiz premier. A little bit of both is what I'm saying.

EDIT: I just want to watch the movie and I don't want spoilers

The biopic should show, that it was harder to be famous in the 80s:
Michael J. Fox Says It Was “Tougher” to Achieve Fame in the ’80s: “You Had to Be Talented”
“We were tougher. We didn’t have social media, we didn’t have any of that crap. We were just famous. Left to our own resources. And it was an amazing time.” Fox was asked if being famous back then was harder than now, he replied, “Well, you had to be talented. That helped.”
He continued, saying “We used to bust our ass, our acting muscles and watch other actors and sit around with other actors and talk about acting and talk about it. And now you’ve got people who just go like, ‘who’s your sweater? What’s your sweater you’re wearing? And what’s that dance step?’ And you’re the most famous person in the world.”

Honestly I'd expect details like that to not necessarily be accurate. They change stuff like that in movies for no reason all the time.
The voice of sanity!

Of course! I keep forgetting that minor detail. Some stuff in the film will be fictional or stuff will be moved around or will happen at the 'wrong' time or whatever.

I must calm down, lol.

Or 2001 as 9/11 changed the plans for the Invincible Tour:
Were you expecting to go on a potential Invincible Tour?
Michael Durham Prince: We did the two shows in Madison Square Garden, and after the second show, we were riding in a van, to our hotel, with Brad and with Michael Bush. Michael Bush said, “Michael said that everybody should expect a phone call in the next two weeks because we’re going to go on tour.” We were all really excited to hear that because it meant a lot of work and joy, and Michael would go on a world tour again and take it to his fans. But what happened the next morning was 9/11… and everything changed. Michael would have probably gone to Europe first, but Europe seemed like the most dangerous place to be since we didn’t know who was responsible yet. So, we still kept hoping, but if you look back to early 2002, everybody artist canceled their world tours. Just like with COVID. There was still some touring going on in America but Michael liked touring the world. I don’t know if he was more popular in Europe but he thought, “Well, if I had a choice of touring in America or Europe, I would always pick Europe.” In America, to us, every city is the same. I mean, it’s a beautiful country, but to me, Europe is much more fascinating. Anyway, sadly that tour never happened. https://bricenajar.com/en/interview-with-michael-durham-prince/

Can't share the link but Siedah Garrett just confirmed that she isn't featured in the biopic. I'm not sure she needed to be really, I think she considers herself a little more important than she actually was 🤷🏼‍♂️
In fairness you can't fit everybody in the biopic. Mike had a 40 year long career, with so many huge moments and highlights

Surley a name check at least, she wrote man in the mirror after all

a name drop in the movie would suffice but to me, she didn't play a huge role in his career outside of writing MITM
