"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

You all know they will probably edit the sound right? I'm certain the hysteria will be cranked up to 100 once it's on the big screen.

Bear in mind that this filming scene was out in the public. If they were going totally bonkers it may have spread fear that something was seriously wrong to those who were unaware of filming.

Yep to all of this.

It's LA. I'm sure people are used to seeing stuff filmed on the street and they would have had it properly blocked off. It can't be that hard to film a crowd scene.

I'm not expecting them to recreate the exact level of hysteria we see in those Madame Tussaud's scenes. It would be great if they did but we'll have to wait and see. I think the final version will be a lot noisier and will look much more crowded than these little clips we've seen.

Dam, after seeing this the movie version we saw really looks like a major downplay. Is it possible it's only a rehearsal? Why would they miss an opportunity and downplay such a crazy moment??
I don't think they are downplaying it. We've seen a clip filmed on someone's phone (I assume) from a distance. The real thing should look very different. The production team are experienced and they will have looked at the footage that's out there. I'm sure they know what they have to aim for. Well, I would hope so! 🤞

it's from the Estate that made the Michael album

Michael was a hard pass but they redeemed themselves with Xscspe.

The estate also sanctioned the release of MJ The Muscial , Vegas One show and the touring Cirque.

Music releases have been a bit of a damp squib but it's obvious there is not much in the vault.

For big shows and the biopic (I hope) its been a massive success.

These candid pictures are great but can also be a huge pain in the ass because it shows raw, unedited pictures before Hollywood does it magic and turns the footage into something spectacular.

I think it is very unfair to criticise what we've seen so far, at least wait until the trailer comes out before picking unnecessary faults.

The promo image of Jaafar looks fantastic, if the real movie shows Jaafar as good as this it will be brilliant.

Even when the trailer comes out, they could still edit the film based on feedback before it hits theaters. Movies have been known to do that.

Guys, camera angles play a huge role in a scene like this. This will look jam packed with people, camera right up in the action' & you'll hear screams of "Michaaaeeelll" and all.
Do the crowd people get paid? Or can anyone just ask to be in the crowd?

a scene for the biopic:
"But there's some moment in childhood when you feel particularly vulnerable. Did you feel that? Elizabeth said that she felt she was owned by the studio."

"Sometimes really late at night we'd have to go out – it might be three in the morning – to do a show. My father forced us. He would get us up. I was seven or eight. Some of these were clubs or private parties at people's houses. We'd have to perform." This was in Chicago, New York, Indiana, Philadelphia, he added – all over the country. "I'd be sleeping and I'd hear my father. 'Get up! There's a show!' "

hallie berry gonna play janet!
This idea has been kicking around for a while but it doesn't seem very likely, imo. Halle Berry gets paid $10 - $12 million when she stars in a film. Although Janet is an important figure in Michael's life and was one of his music peers - especially in the 90's - I don't think this would be a really big role. It's Michael's life story not Janet's so it's a supporting role. Not too sure if Halle Berry would be interested in that, tbh.

Nowadays most film extras sign up with an agency to get work. For crowd scenes in the biopic I would imagine they'll use CGI to bump up the numbers.

Yes, but they got a relatively big actor for *checks notes* attorney John Branca. It's really crazy to me to be more careful with that will faker than MJ's actual sister who he was once very close to.

That's kinda irrelevant. Janet & Halle were born the same year in real life. 57 year old Halle can't play a Janet from teenage to maybe her 30s. Janet was 43 when Mike passed. A younger actor can play an older person with age old makeup. Can't be done the other way around & I doubt they're gonna do like Marvel and de-age with CGI. That's more expense, plus it takes a lot of time to do.

What about Randy's daughter she should played young Janet Jackson i always thought Stevanna looks so much like Janet 😁

Tbh, I've never heard of that guy but I noticed that everyone said he's a big deal. Halle is way bigger than that Teller bloke. So I think it's a bit different. Obviously, sometimes a big actor will play a cameo role but I don't know if the Janet part will be that small. I don't think Janet will get a huge amount of screen time but I don't think it will be a tiny part, either, so it wouldn't fall into the category of being a 'fun' cameo.

They haven't cast anyone (so far) who is super, super famous and I wonder if that's deliberate. 🤔 I've seen people suggesting that Halle Berry *is* going to play Grace, the nanny. Which is definitely less convincing than the idea that she might play Janet.

But, y'know, maybe it will turn out to be Halle or someone equally famous. They are definitely holding back announcing the casting for Janet. Seems like they're going for a big reveal. So maybe it does have to be someone that big to make that kind of a splash. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I'm still not convinced but that's just me! :ROFLMAO:

I disagree. Halle is a big superstar - as in, even I know who she is and I don't really care about films. My point is, she's a big deal (hence the big paycheck) and I think casting someone as famous as her in a smaller part ... I'm not convinced Halle Berry would go for it. Of course, I could be wrong and that's fine. We'll have to see. I'm just saying, I'd be very surprised if she did. I could see it as a possibility if it was a biopic about Janet. I could definitely see her wanting to explore that story in detail. Since it's Michael's story and the role probably isn't going to be huge ... 🤷🏽‍♀️

Halle Berry and Halle Bailey are two different people.

the rumour was that Halle Bailey (little mermaid) was to play Janet.

I've seen convos where people have speculated that Halle Berry might play Janet (or Grace!). Unless those people were getting their Halle's mixed up! But it was definitely Halle Berry getting the name check. I saw one fleeting reference to Halle Bailey but that was all.

I actually don't even care since I have no interest in Janet or who plays her. I think a big superstar in that role would kind of disrupt the balance but ... whatever! :D

Tbh all I've seen is Bailey being touted as the one to play Janet, not seen anything about Berry.

OK, we're looking in different spaces. No biggie. I'll leave it there. This started bc I responded to a post from @8701girl about Halle Berry and I just added in my idle thoughts on it. But since Janet bores the pants off me and I don't care who plays her it's probably a good time for me to drop out.

Still waiting patiently to find out if LMP is going to be in the biopic and who will play her.

If?? How could they possibly leave her out??

I'm just covering my back, lol. It gets a bit tiring feeling like I need to dot all the 'i's' and cross the 't's' but that's online convos, I guess!

I don't think they will leave LMP out. They are clearly getting into 1993/1994 so it would be weird to not have her in the story. But biopics do move things around, leave things out, smush things together (like the Victory press conference stuff we saw recently). I'm just trying not to make assumptions about what they might do. The whole LMP/Debbie thing has a lot of dramatic potential.

LMP's autobiography comes out this October, Michael's biopic is out next April. It's going to be an interesting time, that's for sure!
