The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

Call me crazy, but the 1987 mix of Streetwalker has really grown on me?

I say this as someone who considers the 2001 Special Edition version probably my favourite MJ outtake.

The demo always sounded way better in every way to me. MJ and Freddie's voices meshed perfectly, the looser/rougher production suited the style and lyrics. It sounds like a much "bigger" song to me.
Thanks to the inapt Estate, we'll likely never hear the MJ approved Freddie mix that's intended for Victory.

Its objectively better because its the original intended sound/vibe for the song
I think that with most artists/songwriters, MJ included, it's the original idea or inspiration that has often the most impact. It can certainly be said about Streetwalker (I personally prefer the looser vibe of 1986 demo) and State of Shock.

I agree with Streetwalker. So far, it's imo the strongest available version of that song.

well the 1986 version is a true demo for the 1987 version. The 1987 version is like 90% done, but its definitely still great

Like the 1988 mix is good and all, but the one thing that it fails at is that the chorus doesn't feel very satisfying, like it doesn't have a build up to it, and when you get to it, its very similar, if not the same to the verses

Something about the 1987 chorus is so magical and seducing

(unrelated, but I really want Rocker to leak)
The song isn't all that high up on my list ("Dark Lady", "Boy No", and "Just Remember" are the 3 main songs I need to have injected in my veins) but same here basically. Listening to the recreations on YT which apparently are quite close to the real song does scratch that itch pretty well, I find it cool how similar it is to Queen's "We Will Rock You" which is exactly how I imagined the song to be like.

We need to confirm that by asking Damien. We could have the full structure and melody of the song without even knowing it.

How many versions of Cheater are there again? TUC isn't the only version right? The 2001 Version is real right?

And it was on his list of songs to finish also? Listening to it now, it's so catchy. But the lyrics, these lyrics, they're actually pretty nonsensical. Doesn't stop the song from being good though.

there's an archive of darkchild's site which lists some songs like "get around" which the 2001 cheater thing came from iirc, can't find it though

There’s someone on Instagram, about 600k followers, that has uploaded a video with audio of an AI version of Palestine Don’t Cry - not only is she claiming that the audio is real, but she’s saying that it was replaced on HIStory “at the very last minute” by Earth Song. She also says that Earth Song was written after Palestine because it was too controversial.

Completely made up of course, but everyone in the comments takes her word for it. I left a comment to try and clear up the misinformation (Earth Song written in 1988, Palestine in 1993 - as well as the fact that the latter probably wasn’t even recorded, nevermind being “replaced” by Earth Song at the last minute). I was immediately blocked.

Anyway, it made me think about the original title of this thread - “end the confusion about unreleased songs” - and made me realise that people will make up, and have others believe, almost anything without proof.

You'd be surprised how many people tweet about this track daily, not even the MJ fans. It's constantly being pushed by bots and algorithms bs, which made the "hype" around it so huge that fakes and edits started circulating.
