2025 new album/compilation/OST

In that case they'll just create a spotify playlist and post it on their social media to promote the movie, no release needed!
I mean I know you're being facetious but biopics get soundtracks. They're gonna make a soundtrack based on whatever music they use in the films.

Hopefully the film is creative and uses songs from the vault. Then everybody, will be appeased. Not happy, cuz people don't believe in that anymore. But appeased.

We know these songs will for sure be included:

Billie Jean
Thriller
ABC
Bad
Man In The Mirror
This Place Hotel
I’ll Be There
I Want You Back
2 unreleased songs

I’m sure some obscure ones will be included like they did with MJ The Musical. Like Price of Fame, Tabloid Junkie, etc. All will be newly mixed and in Dolby Atmos.

All will be newly mixed and in Dolby Atmos.
They're slowly working their way through the Beatles catalogue. Soon, all of their albums will be available in Atmos.

Wouldn't it be great if Michael got that for every album, not just a dozen songs?

But they won't, because apparently people are happy with remixes by Afrojack, Nero and Fergie instead.

It’s been confirmed by one of the original engineers for the Thriller and Bad albums
Bruce Swedien engineered both of those.

He died in 2020.

Yeah we are getting all albums newly mixed next year. The engineer posted it on his insta a while back.

Like, for me, I don't think I'll ever buy any more MJ music that isn't in Atmos. That actually goes for most artists.

Well it’s not just Atmos, it will be newly mixed. Dolby Atmos is just added for people who listen on Apple Music.

I couldn’t give less of a hell about Dolby Atmos, to be totally frank. I just want an interesting and creative soundtrack.
I personally love Dolby Atmos. I want all of MJ’s music updated in it with modern balancing and mixing for today’s standards. The Thriller remix was phenomenal in Atmos and genuinely made me appreciate a couple tracks more than usual, TGIM specifically. Just get those guys Ghenea & Haynes to do his entire discography

january 2025 New distribution deal with Sony music ?????????

I don't use anything that supports atmos so it's not really something I am going to benefit from or care about, cool for people who use apple stuff or have the equipment though.

I'd check out new stereo mixes if they go that route. I don't think mj's albums pre HIStory need a total remix but who knows maybe there are improvements to be made.

Ah, well that is an instant never-buy, lol. I only want the original mix in Atmos, definitely not interested in anything else.

I don't use Apple music or any other streaming service. Headphones actually can't reproduce Atmos anyway, lol.

I'm talking specifically about going to a store and buying a copy of an album.

high hopes some of us still have,I suppose..
Not so much that.

The default position for me is that I don't ever need to buy any more music. If Sony want me to spend more money then they're actually going to have to do some work for it. I don't care if they do or they don't, it really doesn't bother me if they choose not to. I'm not expecting or hoping for anything, it's just my criteria.

Atmos is a new mix by default, that's kinda the point.

I meant, like, not a remix. Don't rearrange the songs. Don't change the tempo. Don't add new instruments. Don't add new vocals. Don't add new effects. It's the original album but simply spaced out in the soundstage. ie, the requirement is, if you downmix it, it has to be identical to the stereo original.

I mean, that's obvious isn't it? By new mix they really do mean, a new mix, not a remix.
>if you downmix it, it has to be identical to the stereo original.
literally impossible

I dunno. We're pointlessly splitting hairs here. I don't think we add any value by arguing semantics.

I'm a great believer in using plain English language at all times. I'd grant you it would be a "newly created mix", but I wouldn't go as far as to say it's a new mix.

Sure, there's going to be some summation errors that you'll only notice if you get the waveforms on your screen and zoom in any analyze them numerically. But what I mean is if you take the Atmos or 5.1 mix and play it in stereo, nobody would actually be able to tell the difference using their ears. Ie it's simply a multichannel version of the original album, no more, no less.

I don't believe the Jackson 5 hits and Michael Jackson hits have ever been together on one disc before. You either had to buy the five disc Ultimate Collection or two disc Essential album.

So I think the selling point of the movie soundtrack will be that it has the J5 and MJ hits together on one disc for the first time ever.

And of course probably an exclusive "new" song as well.

Huh? Motown have literally released half a dozen albums that do exactly this. Actually the first MJ album I ever bought was called "18 Greatest Hits Michael Jackson plus the Jackson 5".

I'm not sure whether they'd waste a second new song on this soundtrack, but anything's possible.
This. Possibly one song. Everything else would be pointless.

The public in 2025 doesn't think of "One Day in Your Life" and "Ben" as Michael Jackson's hits. They expect Billie Jean, Beat It, Thriller, Bad, Smooth Criminal, Black or White, etc.

Look up the Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack tracklist.
