Hi guys, I just looked on this site, where you can create your own ranking of best albums ever made, best of decade, best of year , etc.
And I cant belive that Michael is so "low" ranked here. He should be at last no.1 in the 80s IMO. :)
There should be more MJ fans. :)

Looking at what kind of albums get high rating on this website it is safe to say that it is probably dominated by rock fans. That so many people are still interested in Thriller (just look at the fact that it frequently charts still) means a lot more than the opinion of a couple of rock fans on some website. :D

You are right. This is propably because of popularity of Thriller. This album is a icon of 80s. But anyway I'm surpristed that Off The Wall is so high, but Bad is so low. lol :)

But anyway thare are many R&B and Rap albums doing very well.
For example no2 of the 2010s is My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West and no 3. Good Kid, M.A.A.D City by Kendrick Lamar.

Well, they may do well for recent years, but overall it's a heavily rock dominated site. Actually they seem to be the kind of people who hold the opinions of magazines such as Rolling Stone in high regard. :D I looked around the site and Rolling Stone best of charts are frequently referred to. This is the typical RS readers' website IMO.

It seems like you have to log in and be a part of this community to then be able to construct your Top 100 list of albums and then that will count into something in Thriller's overall ranking if you put it high on your list. Too much trouble to me just for some Internet popularity contest. Plus I do not wish to be a member of a rock snob-dominated community just to be able to elevate Thriller by a couple of places on some chart that doesn't matter. :p

I am not surprised by that because OTW is typically the snob/hipster favourite from MJ's catalog. After all Rolling Stone told them that's MJ's best album and it's OK to like even if MJ is otherwise below your very sophisticated music taste. :p

Snob hipster?

Rolling Stone didnt even acknowledge Off The Wall during its release

Snob hipster?

Yes..

Then not. Now they consider it MJ's best album. (Just shows how "great" their judgement actually is :D. Not that they like it now, but that they rejected it back then.) The only MJ album that is OK for music snobs to like. :D OK, maybe Thriller too, but that is already too popular for some of them. If you really want to look cool among your fellow music snobs and you have to say a MJ album that you like you will have to say Off The Wall. :p

PS: This is not against OTW. I love OTW. I just find some snob attitudes funny.

I don't know much about "Rolling Stone". Never have read this magazine. :p Looks like I'm snoob/hipster couse' I really like Off The Wall, It's not number 1 MJ album for me, but it its in my private top 3 :)

I don't push anybody to register/vote on this website. I just found fun, in make some own top album charts, and wanted to share it with MJ community :) Maybe someone could found it also interesting, and at same get MJ higer on rankings :p ( He should be everywhere numer 1) :D

Liking OTW doesn't make you a snob or a hipster. That is not my point and that is not what I said. I like OTW too.

I am just making fun of hipster/music snob attitudes. For them OTW is probably the only acceptable MJ album. Maybe Thriller too, but again with that they risk to be seen as too mainstream. :p

Wait a minute, how is somebody being a snob for liking Off The Wall. I have never heard anything like that in my lifetime

hehe It does. My favourite Michael song is Off The Wall. And I preffer Invincible than HIStory. :D

I Know heh :D

It is sad that Michael is only 55th on the overall list and Prince is 57th. Definitely a rock feel here, although Kendrick Lamars album is #1 for 2015 and Purple Rain is at least #1 for 1984. Joined it and started rating, gave all the albums 90 or 95 and 100 to Dangerous, hopefully we will get MJ at least to the Top 10. Thriller is at least #1 for 1982.:wild:
