How did I not noticed earlier that there was a Bob Dylan thread down here?

They should have cast Joan Baez as Bob, at least for the singing! :D

I prefer her Dylan "impersonation" here around 4:00

Searching for this on YouTube made me realise I miss the studio version of this in my Joan Baez discography ... I can't find if it appears on an album or compilation so far ... only some 7-inches....*

*Edit... OK I found it: https://www.discogs.com/master/129752-Joan-Baez-Farewell-Angelina
I guess I missed this album because I think I have the title track on another album and for some reason I always thought it was released in the 70s and anyway her discography is a mess to follow...

ooh, I will check this out tomorrow! Thanks for posting. :)

I only posted that other clip as a joke (although I think her impersonation is absolutely brilliant) bc of Timothee Chalamet doing the vocals in the biopic.

"At the hotel in Frankfurt there was a publishing convention and every room was taken, parties all night. I didn’t know there were so many book publishers in the world. I was trying to find Crystal Lake Publishing so I could congratulate them on publishing The Great God Pan, one of my favorite books. I thought they might be interested in some of my stories. Unfortunately it was too crowded and I never did find them."

“You can’t be who you want to be in daily life — I don’t care who you are, you are going to be disappointed in daily life. The cure for all that is to get up on stage and that is why performers do it. But in saying that, I don’t want to put on the mask of celebrity. I’d rather just do my work and see it as a trade.” (Bob Dylan, 2001)

“A lot of people can’t stand touring but to me it’s like breathing. I do it because I’m driven to do it. At times in my life the only place I have been happy is when I am on stage.” (Bob Dylan, 2001)

"Saw Nick Cave in Paris recently at the Accor Arena and I was really struck by that song Joy where he sings “We’ve all had too much sorrow, now it the time for joy.” I was thinking to myself, yeah that’s about right."

"There’s a movie about me opening soon called A Complete Unknown (what a title!). Timothee Chalamet is starring in the lead role. Timmy’s a brilliant actor so I’m sure he’s going to be completely believable as me. Or a younger me. Or some other me. The film’s taken from Elijah Wald’s Dylan Goes Electric – a book that came out in 2015. It’s a fantastic retelling of events from the early ‘60s that led up to the fiasco at Newport. After you’ve seen the movie read the book."

"Timothée Chalamet, Elle Fanning, Edward Norton, Monica Barbaro, and director James Mangold sit down with FD correspondent Natasha Martinez to talk about their upcoming movie ‘A Complete Unknown’. The cast shared what it was like to see each other dressed as their characters for the first time, how they were able to get into character, and so much more."

Thoughts about the biopic? I think it is only released in USA so far.
In Germany the release will be in february.

UK release is later this week. I'll probably see it but am not feeling madly enthusiastic, tbh. I'm mostly interested in seeing the performances of the actors playing Pete Seeger and Johnny Cash. I think it's good that it's only covering 4 years of Bob's life and just looking at his changeover from acoustic to electric guitar. Better than trying to cover his whole life. Even so, it's 2hrs 20 mins. Pretty long!

I don't watch a lot movies, so, even less biopics... Even if I'm "interested", not sure if I will make the effort to get it and watch it at all.

I find it amusing that the re-do the Freewheeling cover as a scene (I don't know too much about the actual photograph).
I first thought Chalamet looked great for a biopic-Bob Dylan , but re-watching the images, I find them less convincing.
The actress who plays Joan Baez doesn't look like her at all.

Along with MoFi's Off The Wall, I ordered some extra SACDs, including MoFi's mono version The Times They Are A-Changin' .
I can only compare it to some random CD release from the 90s or the early 2000s, which it the only release of the album I ever listened to, but that Bob Dylan SACD is pure auditive orgasm.

Other than this on I also already owned Blood On The Tracks MoFi SACD, which I find just OK but actually prefer some CD release. And Desire MoFi SACD which is a good mastering too. But The Times They Are A-Changin' mono may be the most mind blowing of the few "audiophile" SACD I've heard so far.

I thought that "maybe" the original albums was mono and later CD release are "stereofied" version, which may explain perceived gap in quality. (But I haven't checked.)

Opinions to the imapct to Bob Dylon`s music-catalog? So I saw some articles that that streams got higher but in my opinion the biobic did not have a great impact. Maybe 1 miilion more listeners fpr Dylon since relase. BTW no Oscar for Timothee Chalamet despite great promotion for him in the weesks before the Oscars.

Nice to see a bit of love for Bob. Dylan is my other favourite artist. My top ten favourite Dylan albums in no particular-ish order.

Blonde On Blonde
Blood On The Tracks
Oh Mercy
Bringing It All Back Home
Desire
Highway 61 Revisited
Street Legal
The Freewheelin’
Modern Times
Shot of Love

A few days ago I woke up with this song in my head, but due to my irrational commitment to the Thriller Challenge I wouldn't let myself listen to it until today lol

I love every single thing about this song. It's probably in my top 5 favorite Dylan songs. I'm not joking.

I got married and quickly divorced in my early 20s and I swear to God, I would not have survived that without Bob Dylan. This song was a part of that.
One of my favourite Dylan albums is Desire and I’m astonished that this was left off the album, although I think the album is pretty perfect and to have Abandoned Love as part of Biograph was pretty special.

My favorite Dylan tracks. Gonna limit to a top 5 because I don’t have time to make it a hundred 😝

1. Sara
2. Bob Dylan’s Dream
3. Heart Of Mine
4. Boots Of Spanish Leather
5. It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry
Sleepin’ in the woods by a fire in the night
Drinkin’ white rum in a Portugal bar
Them playin’ leapfrog and hearin’ about Snow White
You in the marketplace in Savanna-la-Mar
