Remember the Motown spectacular of ‘The Wiz’ with Michael and Diana Ross?
Well now it is being staged by the ‘Inspire, Encourage, Achieve Program’, the Jefferson County Juvenile Probation Department and the Texas Youth Commission.
The children have written, produced, directed, acted and sang in their own presentation of the African-American version of ‘The Wizard Of Oz’ at the Julie Rogers Theatre in Beaumont, Texas.
Friday (14th April 2008) morning saw hundreds of schoolchildren watch the first live performance, which was staged twice more on Saturday. Admission for the afternoon performance was five non-perishable food items.
