"The release of This Is It also inspired mixed emotions. At the time of release he gave an interview saying he would wait for the DVD. Today he says he still finds it difficult to watch. He is also bemused by some of the choices that were made regarding what was and wasn't included. "It's funny because those bits you see, he's not doing the full out still. There were times where he was really, really doing it, like full out. There are a lot of things that weren't shown in This Is It. I really don't know why that stuff was left out."

Didn't Kenny say he chose Michael at his best???

I thought Michael was great! And Chris Grant says that wasn't Michael's best?? You think they cut those best pieces out so no one would see how HEALTHY and ENERGETIC that "hardcore drug addict" really was?

I don't know. If the last few days were the best, maybe they were more interested in showing variety than consistency. I still think they are going to milk this more. Maybe come out with more footage later or something. Also, I really think they did not look through all those hours of footage. I hope they have that interview with Kenny, it would be good to ask him.

Yes, but we don't know if Chris is talking about more than just those last few days.

I just messaged him that question on facebook, but he's not responding.

Yes, they could have just shown variety from Michael's many days.

But, those earlier rehearsals....shouldn't all that practice lead to the VERY BEST of performance possible???

Why not just show all the best? It's what all previous rehearsals were for, to come to a 'best performance' that can be shown.

It's what Michael would want to show. THE VERY BEST. They should show that point of greatness that Michael rehearsed too. The point of greatness that Michael wanted everyone to see, not him half doing things.

I don't get it.

But then, like you said. They may be saving all that for later to make more money.

I don't know for sure. But if not, if that footage of him at his best isn't released, then I will just see it as hiding his great health.

I believe there could be several simple explanations for this. the most simple one is that perhaps his best performances wasn't captured in the best way in the footage. I don't know such as a shaky hand or not the best angle etc etc. I believe as a director Kenny also had to choose what is high quality, good light, good angle etc as well and not only focus on the best performances.

and as ginvid said it is always a possibility that the additional footage can/will be used in the future in someway.

I think you may be right. Also, it could be that he was dancing full out but not singing full out on those days. Would be interesting to find out.
