Our Action:
Our first approach was to connect to the various articles and write positive comments to show who Michael Jackson was and that he was innocent; however, as we have learned lately, there is some backlash from football fans, the media and those who don’t see clear on why Michael Jackson would be honored. Therefore we are changing our approach. We have decided that it might be best to draft and send letters directly to Mr. Al Fayed expressing our gratitude for his noble gesture. We can also express that in light of the negative backlash regarding the statue, we can also recommend alternative courses of action to honor Michael. Or the recommendations offered can be considered if he feels honoring Michael should be an ongoing process with long-term impact to generations and human relief:

Please refer to the bullet points below with a few ideas that you can include in your letter. If Mr. Al Fayed receives multiple letters recommending similar ideas, perhaps he will consider them seriously.

· Bequest a music scholarship or name a music department in Michael Jackson’s name at a prestigious London school
· Name a hospital wing such as a burn unit or cancer wing in Michael Jackson’s name. The Great Ormond Street Hospital is looking for funding, so they could be a great candidate. Perhaps if any of those ideas are accepted, a statue can then be commemorated at that specific location and it would sit in a more peaceful setting.

These are just a few ideas that can be offered as suggestions. If you have other ideas which are viable considerations, please include them in your letter. Please remember, the goal is to offer ideas that will dignify Michael Jackson’s memory, not antagonize anyone. These ideas would be something that Michael himself would approve of.

As standard policy, please be respectful, non-emotional, positive and do not use Michael Jackson avatar names or pictures. One note, for those who don’t realize, Mr. Al Fayed lost his son in the same crash that took the life of the beloved Princess Diana. So there is that connection to Michael as well.

Although we feel that letters to Mr. Al Fayed should be personalized, if you need help with drafting your letter or if you would like an example template, please let us know.

As always we thank you all for helping to preserve, protect, defend and honor Michael’s legacy. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
