Controversial MJ Documentary Leaving Neverland [GENERAL DISCUSSION THREAD]

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 Carrying MJ Molestation Doc

So, I sent an email out to Sundance. I'm not sure if it's allowed to share the email in a forum post, but I actually received a response back from a guy named Adam Montgomery. It wasn't one of those automated messages. He asked which part I specifically take issue with the documentary. I replied back, I haven't heard back from him yet, but if I do it probably won't be until after the weekend. I'll admit I'm not the greatest at writing messages about this, but I try my best. But it really might be worth it for people to send him an email because he may be willing to listen.

How did you get access to that guy? It sounds like a useful contact to have!! Which email address? I sent them an email to Institute@sundance.org and received no reply at all.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

So I saw a article about this on another site and the comment section was... you can guess it undoubtedly. One idiot said "it wouldn't surprise me. They found actual child porn in 2005. But because he had money it was swept under the rug." I swear... the logic of some people. It's so frustrating to still see people blindly believing anything a no name tabloid says. I bet this idiot means the unopened art book, sigh.

I hope you put that poster in check. SOme people want to be idiots in comments sections. Also, MJ's money did not stop nothing. Look how MJ was treat and NOTHIGN was swept under no rug; in fact, more lies were told due to him being Michael and having money. That is what you tell that nut as well.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

This should be in all info articles about the doc, why? The red paragraph....
Channel 4 and HBO have co-produced award-winning director Dan Reed's Leaving Neverland, a two-part documentary about two men who recount their experiences of being sexually abused by Michael Jackson.

When allegations of abuse by Michael Jackson involving young boys surfaced in 1993, many found it hard to believe that he could be guilty of such unspeakable acts. Leaving Neverland explores the experiences of two young boys, James Safechuck, at age ten, and Wade Robson, at age seven, who were both befriended by Jackson. They and their families were entranced by the singer's fairy-tale existence as his career reached its peak.

Director Dan Reed states this:
"If there's anything we've learned during this time in our history, it's that sexual abuse is complicated, and survivors' voices need to be listened to. It took great courage for these two men to tell their stories and I have no question about their validity. I believe anyone who watches this film will see and feel the emotional toll on the men and their families and will appreciate the strength it takes to confront long-held secrets."

Through gut-wrenching interviews with Safechuck and Robson, now in their 30s, as well as their mothers, wives and siblings, LLeaving Neverland crafts a portrait of sustained abuse, and explores the complicated feelings that led both men to confront their experiences after each had a young son of his own. Playing out against the backdrop of our collective experience, the film documents the value of breaking silence, even when it implicates a powerful and revered figure.

Both of the accusers featured in this film have previously repeatedly denied that they were abused by Jackson. Their civil case and claims against Jackson were dismissed by a judge without trial in 2017. Wade Robson testified for Jackson's defence as an adult and while under oath in Jackson's highly publicised trial (2005) at the end of which Jackson was acquitted of all charges. During Jackson's life, Wade Robson continued his friendship with Jackson, dedicating his MTV show to him, using Neverland Ranch as a location for his film project. Even in death Wade Robson requested to attended Jackson's memorial service, performed in an MTV tribute performance, contributed to an official Michael Jackson tribute book released by the MJ Estate, contributed to Jermaine Jackson's book about Michael Jackson, and was even in talks with the MJ Estate to direct one of two Cirque Du Soleil tribute shows.

Guys, many of you have Twitter or FB or emails to the Jackson family members, please, let them know about this forum and the threads about Robson, including all those links to the evidence & trial transcripts and analyses:

LET THEM KNOW THAT NOBODY knows more about Jackson’s trials than his fans. They can quote evidence & trial transcripts all day. They know the cases inside out & backwards.

It blows my mind that people think we only defend Michael because we’re fans. Sure, that’s definitely a reason, but we also defend him because there is a factual basis to prove his innocence.
There is literally not one minuscule piece of evidence that suggests the contrary.

Wade Robson's posthumous allegations against Michael Jackson are a typical example of a false accuser making a mockery out of the legal system.

It is the right time not to be fair...., let´s FIGHT

As a filmmaker in the UK, he must understand defamation laws. Meaning he knows that what he is broadcasting - ie. dubious, unproven claims - could never be broadcast if MJ wasn’t dead. It can *only* air because MJ is dead. And using that as a justification is immoral & unethical.

You don't have to be a fool to be fooled. Dan Redd is not an expert on sexual abuse, nor is he an expert on Michael Jackson. He's a filmmaker. He has been fooled and used. Sociopaths are "Masters of deception", as Robson said himself.

Tom Mesereau’s first meeting with @michaeljackson included a private plane, unknown location on an island and Michael sitting silent in the back of the room watching Tom get interviewed by his team.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

I was just wondering....so the Estate can't sue for defamation of Michael Jackson since he is dead. But Wade has made claims that Norma Staikos and MJJProductions are somehow involved. Could the Estate sue for defamaton on MJJProductions' behalf? Does a company have any rights against defamation? And I hope Norma Staikos sues the hell out of Wade!!!

I see where Roger Feldmen is finally saying Sundance is doing a "rare misstep" with this doc. Sundance is going to look stupid and HBO and Channel 4 or anyone else is going to look like fools in dealing with guys who are clear liars. I can care less about haters just as long as fair and good thinking people knows better (which I think they do. Many people do not even care because they are tired of this "beaten dead horse" accusations of MJ all the time).

https://www.showbiz411.com/2019/01/...ia-family-and-friends-concerned-about-silence

But now fans are starting to wonder where Paris is because a new documentary about Michael, slated for the Sundance Film Festival this month, is causing alarm. The film, called “Leaving Neverland,” purportedly repeats the unfounded claims of two men who say they suffered sexual misconduct by Michael Jackson when they were children. The claims are specious at best, and lacking verification. The film sounds like a rare misstep for Sundance. (All the claims were thrown out by courts.)

No More Nails in Michael Jackson’s coffin – He’s Already Dead.
By hannahkozak

When I think of Sundance, the first word that comes to mind is quality. After that, I think of Robert Redford, integrity, and honor. Integrity for his vision in creating the Sundance Institute to bring movies made with class and vision and honor for sticking with that vision. To hear that Sundance would be screening the “Leaving Neverland” documentary hit me like a punch in the stomach.

Did Sundance take any steps whatsoever to investigate the real criminals in the multiple Michael Jackson extortion attempts? In 1993 Evan Chandler, a dentist who wanted to be a full time screenwriter made an attempt to blackmail twenty million dollars from Michael. When his demands were not met, he was recorded saying, “Everything’s going according to a certain plan that isn’t just mine … and if I go through with this, I win big time. There’s no way I lose. I’ve checked this inside and out. I will get everything I want, and they will be destroyed forever. June will lose custody of Jordy and Michael’s career will be over.” He did not go to social services, which is where one would go if there was any thought of child molestation. No, Evan Chandler went to the “meanest son of a bitch” (his words) attorney he could find.

Is Sundance aware that Thomas Sneddon, District Attorney of Santa Barbara County, in California, falsified evidence in a court of law in his vendetta against Michael Jackson? Why Sneddon wasn’t imprisoned is the bigger question. Sneddon is best known for his hunt against Michael Jackson even though Jackson was acquitted of all charges because simply, there was no evidence, only lies.

I am a award-winning documentary photographer who has spent nine years on various photo essays covering topics such as my father’s survival in eight concentration camps during the holocaust and my mother’s life in an aging facility after her second husband’s abuse left her with brain damage.

Another project I have been working on is “Searching for Michael Jackson,” a project for which I spent eight years researching who Michael Jackson really was, apart from the image the media fed us. During my research, I found that Michael Jackson had lawsuits brought against him almost weekly for financial gain. After reading the court transcripts it became clear that the Arvizo Family was trying to get their slice of pie from Jackson’s hard work by making up lies that were so preposterous that laughs could be heard in the courtroom in 2005.

Now, with the anniversary of Michael’s death around the corner, the media has begun bashing the man who was a proven victim of blackmail and extortion. First there was greedy Evan Chandler, who committed suicide four months after Michael died. Next the “Me Too” ( I want Michael’s money) Arvizos, proven extortionists and the biggest player of all, the media who loved to smear his name from Diane Diamond to Martin Bashirs.

When will the travesties against this man end? The media doesn’t reflect the facts and Sundance should. When it comes to Michael Jackson, it is about lies and profit and always has been. The Michael Jackson estate has issued a statement saying this film was “another rehash of dated and discredited allegations” and a “pathetic attempt to exploit and cash in on” the singer.

Wade Robson applied for a job choreographing a Michael Jackson tribute show for Michael’s estate. And when he was not chosen, Robson filed fifty lawsuits, seeking money for abuse, even though he testified under oath, vehemently denying any abuse in a court of law in 2005 even going as far as saying it was silly to even suggest he was improperly touched by Michael. Wade’s actions since he accused Michael are simply not consistent with someone who was traumatized by him. There are videos where he was praising Michael. Wade Robson is bankrupt because his lawsuit was dropped due to a lack of evidence and he is seeking to get money because after all, why work if you can just sue the Michael Jackson estate? What is Robson’s motivation? In the immortal words of Michael Jackson, after the first allegations: “If you show me the cash then I will take it. If you tell me to cry then I will fake it. You do anything for money.”

I would look forward to and welcome Sundance to screen a legitimate documentary made about the lies by Evan Chandler, Thomas Sneddon planting fingerprints and falsifying evidence in a court of law, Harvey Weinstein peddling fake Michael Jackson stories to take the heat off his real sex abuse, the “Me Too” Arvizos and their false claims against JC Penney and all the other weekly, monthly, and yearly blackmails made against Michael Jackson, a victim of extortion attempts, who was humiliated over and over while the media crucified him. When are we going to see that documentary?

Bad move, Sundance film festival.

The director doesn't even question their validity, what a ****ing idiot and liar. So much is wrong and ridiculous about their stories. He doesn't find it odd how both guys had been defending him to no end, how someone suddenly realizes at a much much later age that the abuse wasn't normal, how he made a music show about him, wanting to be at the memorial? None of that makes you say "Hmmm...that's definitely off."? I'm sure this piece of trash director realizes that but he just wants the money.

The way they make that doc sound, it will definitely get people to start doubting again. Unbelievable. Ten years after his passing. **** this world.

Kanye West (yeah, I know) had the chance to talk some sense into people, to you know...come to MJ's defense. Instead he said... "we can still enjoy the art."

It's beyond disgusting and so frustrating how this shit is being compared to R Kelly.

I have a feeling this sorry excuse for a doc will be damaging to MJ, to say the least. I sure as hell hope that next time I see my aunt and uncle that they won't start about this. Years ago, after his passing. They went all "why do you think he had that theme park." and the "where there is smoke, there is fire." BS. They know I've been a fan and supporter for as long as I can remember, I'm 36 now and I really hope they just decide to not bring up this topic.

Kanye should have said "just because you read it in a magazine, or see it on a TV screen don't make it factual." but on the other hand this guy has been losing it for a while now.

Wade Robson talking about MIchael in an interview AFTER Michael's death. And the date it was published on YouTube by the people who intervieed hi....July 13, 2012!! Wuld you talk about someone that highly and that freely if you were molested by them??

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWazdCJxTFI

Wade Robson's short film "Within" that was filmed in Neverland in 2007. Wade is thanking Michael in the credits for letting him and his wife use MJ's "sacred land". And he is also thanking Grace for making it happen. Again, would you wanna be in contact with someone who abused you and beg them to let you use their HOME for making your own dance video? Would you volunteerly wanna go back to the place where you were supposedly abused?

Wen has Kanye ever said something that made sense? As for your aunt and uncle, just show them the truth and if they do not want to listen, that proves they are just bias people. And they can stop with the "smoke there fire". It can also be DRY ICE or FOG. Also, if your relatives think MJ is an abuser because he has a theme park, your aunt and uncle are stupid people (sorry). To believe that would be like believing a bank robber would have a neon sign pointing to his/her hideout saying "here is where all the money I stole and me". Do you think a REAL bank robber would do that? NO. Even if it falls under "stupid criminals" file, the EVIDENCE would be very clear and can be PROVEN easy and quick.

Not true. Maybe tv but not in the world. I think all of these claims period is now making people get tired of it. Again, Rkelly is a difference situation. MJ has been put through the mill and can be proven to be bogus. Who knows. All of this may turn out to be a blessing for MJ. If everyone dig deep into MJ case like they did RKelly, they will have to face the FACTS about Wade/James.Again, the media is on watch by people in what they do like everyone else now. FAKE MEDIA is something they do not want to be proven in this case.

Kanye? He comes out with rubbish most days of the week.

However, someone like Kanye who isn’t connected to this and won’t know any of the detail is put in a difficult situation. That is what is damaging about this. If this is spun as “new allegations”, which it’s not, this has been around for 6 years now and already thrown out of court, then the general public will simply think “another allegation? Well it must be true then”.

Taj seems to be going at it and that's great. Whatever he's gonna do I appreciate it. Why not make a doc similar to the one MJ made himself during the Bashir days? Make a doc with all the facts in there about these two and hell, throw in all there is about the Chandlers, Arvizos as well. And then try to get it to be seen by as many people as possible.

That was very very good to read. Her documentary is one I can get behind. I will watch that when it becomes available.

People don't want to say anything because nowadays if you doubt someone making allegations you are shamed for doing so.

I can see where you're coming from with that for sure. On some forums as soon as you say "yeah I'll just wait with any judgment and do some research first." not even only about MJ, they react to you like "why doubt it. With these allegations it's more often than not true." or they just try to get you banned from the forum. I know those kind of sites.

Very true. This was years ago though and that was during my birthday and they started talking like that. I'm glad my dad (rest in peace) came to my defense by saying "you are at my son's birthday and you know how much he appreciates MJ. don't you think the man had been dragged through the dirt enough? Why not some more praise for his charity work?" And after that they were quiet, haha. So I don't think they will bring this up again but you never know.

But yeah, apart from this I am very fond of my aunt and uncle but I know she likes to read tabloid trash.

That would be fantastic but I kinda doubt it. I bet a ton of people are gonna see it at Sundance and there will definitely be those people that will believe it or will have their doubts appear again. On the other hand, the man could have been exonerated a million times, hell, all accusers could come forward and admit it was all lies and there will always be people that look at MJ different in that way until their dying day. To this day we have people saying "yeah but OJ was exonerated too" when you bring up the fact that MJ was found 100% not guilty. Which is so, so tiresome.

But I hope you're right. It would be great if they can place this next to R Kelly right now and see how this can't even be compared. Because with Kelly there is actual proof of very very bad shit going on for starters. Did people truly go deep into the R Kelly case or are they just parroting what the media says today?

Yeah that's true too. Still I wish he said something else. I've always thought he appreciated Mike and you'd think he wouldn't so easily just say something like this. A response like "you know, I haven't seen this documentary yet. So I won't speak on it." something like that. "we can still enjoy their art." sounds more like he has his mind made up, going with what the media tries to push on him.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

Yeah but I always say it is stupid to bring up OJ case (people act like blacks are all alike and if something is going on with one it must be all. That is why many blacks are in prisons for crimes they did not commit). Also, OJ case was a MURDER CASE regardless if he did it or not. Again, if they want to dwell on this doc, the media better dwell on ALL THE EVIDENCE on these guys. Like I said, this may turn out to be a blessing for Michael.
