Controversial MJ Documentary Leaving Neverland [GENERAL DISCUSSION THREAD]

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

The Sun... they are like the worst tabloid you can imagine, right? They are just making these stories up as they go, aren't they? Never heard of this Terry George. So a "new story" then? Sigh.

As for Safechuck, I'm still wondering what his "story" is. Hadn't he been defending MJ through and through as well? What made this pos turn around and go against MJ after so many years?
The Terry George thing is YEAAAARS old, so all rehashed shite.

Lol hopefully, but hey.. the war in Iraq was going on when the mj trial was and we all know what got more ratings..

All jokes (with truth) aside, this ain't gonna move any anti mj movement an inch.. it's only going to stress is fans out more than anything

Safe**** thought he could make big $$ if he followed Wade's footsteps. He was tired of working 60+ hours a week. Someone got a snapshot of a post he made about that before he accused MJ.

One more point about your post....how exactly is this like 2005, or even worse than 2005? 2003-2005 was as low as it could get as an MJ fan. Day after day of negativity, front page headlines on all newspapers about BS allegations. This is a film. A shockingly bad, potentially damaging film I agree, but it’s not a criminal trial.

Even once this this is shown on Channel 4 and HBO it may cause a stir for a couple of days, but then it will quickly fall down the news agenda. And maybe, just maybe, some people will see through Wade and Jimmy’s blatant lies. These aren’t new allegations. He made them 6 years ago. He has spoken about them on tv several times. He sued MJ’s Estate. Yet, to date, his allegations have made limited headway. Agree that the documentary airing on prime time tv could be bad, but even then, this too shall pass.
Im sure some like the drama if they think this is worse than 03/05 they either werent born or went through it when it happened.or...... i dunno. Its just ridiculous to think a tinpot doc one of many horrible ones is worse than an actual trial.how many time are we gonna go through the sky is falling.

Terry George is a scumbag who had a gay call centre he wanted to promote so he made up a story about MJ and sold it to tabloids. This is a 20 years old story nothing new.

It's unbelievable what people can change in to once they hear the word money, ****ing hell.

So has it started at the festival now? I'm sure we'll be reading comments about it in a few hours.

One thing though..... I don't watch (Dutch) television but my stepfather does and he sure as hell would tell me if MJ is on the news. He sure did when crapface Robson came with his BS years ago. However, I haven't heard my stepfather at all yet. You'd think the news or one of those showtime/boulevard shows would talk about Sundance. This is great news though.

Terry george is an attention seeking wannabe z list celeb from my home city. I know all about the fool.met mj and recorded some convos with him when mj was on tour in 88 tried to make contact with him during the dangerous tour but he ended up on a stalker watch list so to speak. Claims of sex chats (of course he recorded some convos but shock horror not the phone sex one) at the exact same time he was advertising his own sex chat business.even the local press called him out at the time.he claimed friends had sold the story and he had to go along with it as the newspaper threatened stories on him instead. then went on one of therouxs tinpot docs about mj to push it years later. Then within days of mj been killed he was on the local t.v station claiming he and mj were good friends who had just gone into buiness together and how upset he was.the guys an idiot. Ontop of alledged claims about his sex life. you know throwing stones to hide your hands!

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

the media in the UK needs to get a life. Clearly the UK media depends on MJ and the royal family to stay in business. BTW, CHris Brown accuser is looking more and more like a liar. Rapper Eve just got backlash for talking as if Chris was involved without waiting on the Facts (prejudging). She had apolized today. I tell you, in America, we aint going for it overall no more.

Good lord, and the pathetic company that is The Sun brings that as news again? Worst of all is that I know people that read such trash and then instantly believe it too. And then they come to me and bring me that trash as news.

Sigh, a few years ago I was talking to a friend of mine about something and she out of the blue brought up that MJ apparently "also" hit Bubbles. It's just total insanity the hate... for this man.

Michael Jackson Documentary: Police Outnumber Protestors at Sundance Premiere

Police outnumbered protestors at the world premiere of “Leaving Neverland,” a new documentary that examines the child sexual abuse allegations against Michael Jackson that debuts at the Sundance Film Festival.

As press and attendees flooded into the Egyptian Theatre, they walked past two women holding placards that read “Seek Truth.”

“I’m here to stand up for him,” said Brenda Jenkyns, a fan of Jackson’s who made the trek to Park City, Utah, from her home in Calgary, Canada. “It’s important that people look at the facts, because the truth isn’t black and white.”

“This film is not about giving a voice to a victim,” said Catherine Van Tighem, a fan who came to Sundance from Alberta, Canada. “The people that are featured in this film have already had their day in court and they have been legally denied. They were seeking financial gain and the case was dismissed … if Michael were alive today, this film would be considered defamation.”

Jackson was accused of molestation and was acquitted in a 2005 trial. He reached a financial settlement with another accuser, Jordan Chandler, in 1994. Both Robson and Safechuck’s lawsuits were dismissed, with the judge saying they had filed too late after the singer’s 2009 death.

The sparsely attended protest was something of an anticlimax, particularly after Park City police told reporters they were increasing staffing in anticipation that Jackson’s fans would be out in force.

“Tensions are higher for this movie than anything I’ve ever seen at Sundance before,” a law enforcement source told Deadline earlier this week.

Instead, it was left to the two women from Canada to come to Jackson’s defense. A swarm of cameras surrounded Jenkyns and Van Tighem, and at one point a reporter was overheard asking where the protest was.

“I guess I’m it,” Jenkyns said.

Jenkyns said she first discovered the pop star by following the coverage of his 2009 death and was impressed by his commitment to humanitarian causes. “Leaving Neverland,” a four-hour documentary by Dan Reed, paints a very different picture of the singer as a man who used his celebrity to sexually abuse and exploit children. The movie includes interviews with Wade Robson and James Safechuck, two men who claim they were sexually abused by Jackson when they were children. Robson’s account is controversial because he previously said under oath that Jackson never behaved inappropriately with him before changing his account in a 2016 lawsuit. Safechuck filed a separate suit in 2014.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

In 2003 during the grand jury deliberations and after the grand jurors heard Gavin's story, the jurors hold each others hand and prayed with each other. They were so emotional and he had not even claimed he was raped. On the other hand the jurors in 2005 did not believe Gavin's at all because he was crossed examined. No one cried, no one prayed, they just flat out did not believe him and even those who did say they felt MJ was guilty they made it clear that it was (the unexplored) 1993 case that made them feel that way. You can only imagine the feelings of those who watch a one sided documentary talking about children being raped. There is a special hell for people like Wade and Safe****

James never defended Michael. I stop having a relationship with him because he said he felt that what he had done as a child was wrong and disappeared from his life. michael contacted him to testify in his favor in the trial but james rejected him and told him that he did not want to know anything about him or wanted to have anything to do with his world. james never defended him. It is not the same case as wade

That makes no sense to me. I mean, why would you ask your alleged victim to testify in your favor? If that were true, it would have been all over the news, just like EVERYTHING ELSE was all over the news - all day, everyday!

Aside from that, we all know that Sneedon travelled the world looking for alleged victims, but could find none!! I guess Sneedon didn't realize that he had an alleged victim right in his backyard.

Sneedon went so far as to name FIVE ALLEGED VICTIMS during that trial, but to my knowledge he NEVER mentioned Safechuck's name. The Prosecution searched under every rock and around every corner, but never said a word regarding Safechuck. Did I miss the day the Prosecution mentioned Safechuck's name?

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

The judge barred any testimony about Safe**** in 2005 because there was no witnesses who claimed they saw him being molested unlike Mac and Wade. There was no need for MJ to ask him to testify in the first place for him to say no. MJ did not bring any character witnesses at all. All the men brought in as defence witnesses were there to refute testimony presented by the prosecutors that he molested them. James was still close with MJ after the 1993. He claims in his lawsuit that he became a drug addict and did not have any education and seems to have big dreams about becoming a celebrity but failed miserably and it does seem that he blames MJ for why his life did not turn any better. Similar to pretty much everyone else. This boy was the son of a garbage collector. MJ was supposed to open doors for them but nothing happened and he resented him for that. His cousin praised MJ immediately after Wade came out with his lies and said that he was around MJ with his cousin and that MJ was nothing but a pleasant guy. MJ's own family resented him for not providing for them at all times, so imagine how strangers feel. Wade would have never gone with this allegation if he had the financial means to keep the lifestyle he was used to. when he realised his career was dying he became desperate and accused MJ. He would have done so in 2003 if it were not for the fact he had money at that time. Safe**** was broke, uneducated, no career, drug addict by that time. I do believe that if mj was convicted, Safe**** would have came out and claimed molestation to get paid. His story is even weaker than Wade. Actually the lawyers waited for 8 months to file his lawsuit despite the fact that filing on time was vital for his case because of the status of limitation but it was so shaky and full of holes and his lawyers knew that.

Yes but James never claimed Mike did anything to him prior to 2013.

Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"

Notice how Wade keep saying 'it is not about michael', 'michael is dead' they are trying to rationalise what they are doing to themselves. While lying he keeps reminding himself that MJ is dead so he should not feel any remorse. I have never never ever liked him and always felt he would accuse MJ when money runs out.

We haven’t got a review of the sh!!!!!t show yet?

On Twitter the people and press who saw the doc wrote it was 100% believable and they're left the cinema convinced MJ did all that. It is graphic and crude as it can be, and they even used "voice recordings" and """love""" notes from MJ to back their claims.

A huge HUGE shitstorm is coming.
