Yes, I think this and BOTDF are similar cases. At least MJ had the ultimate sign off on that, this instance is just very annoying.

Whats really annoying is Alcon, the company that own the Blade Runner brand - have one or two people on the payroll for continuity purposes alone, to make sure that nothing contradicts something else in that universe. A well versed MJ fan would gladly do this roll for the Estate for free.

Maybe when Prince takes the wheel things might change.
 
I've got a feeling this is a post premiere version that censors some of the more "explicit" scenes for general daytime viewing?
 
Good thing is that most people won't ever see this change because for some reasons, the full version of BoW is one of the least-viewed MJ video in comparison to the shortened version with over 510m views, which will probably never get the AI upscale shortened version. Most people will still see the shortened version in 480p for the years to come. Annoying Estate

the full version was uploaded way later in 2016 and they keep the shortened version in all playlists

I am thinking about that too, but Bad full version has over 100 million views, and Who Is It (even though there is only one video) has 130+ million views. Maybe it doesn't get recommended as often?
 
I understand that this is not the best remastering, although I think it's better than what they did with OTW (I know it's in VHS), but you should be happy that they gave us at least this. By the way, it's very interesting that they included a couple of frames that we haven't seen before.

Yes, I read that and was like: apparently some random dude/team was given the tape noone checked before. And noone checked afterwards, before posting it everywhere?! Okay...man, if I worked like that at my job I would have been fired a thousand times.

I don’t get these „you should be happy“ people. No dude we should be pissed that we have to pray since 15 years to get like the absolute minimum.. I don’t get how one can defend them every time they **** up something. There is no wrong in pointing out how they do things not right.

The estate has everything that was left behind by the GREATEST artist EVER and has been screwing up this bad for this long. It's unbelievable.

Imagine how good we could be eating with a competent team - they can't even find HQ for pictures for the Instagram page!

Personally, I have no problem with them replacing the footage, it’s always been uncomfortable to watch. It's not artistic, it's just disturbing,

I also would’ve chosen the graffiti effects-version. The original makes Michael look like a rowdy —and it’s a bad influence on kids.
