Did Joe Jackson ever had health issues during the 1980s or so?

Question might seem random but seeing all the issues he had later in life (which might be to be expected of a man in his late 80s), it made me wonder if Joe ever had issues with his health earlier in life, either during his time as a manager or idk.
Just curiosity.

Margaret (Jermaine's ex) mentionned in her book that he had a stroke, but it was in the 90's if I recall correctly. I haven't heard of any health problems in the 80's.
