Did MJ's vitiligo start getting worse during Victory Tour?

I'm pretty sure there's a pic in the Jacksons Live booklet that has the early signs on his neck or arms, I can't remember.

My friend had alopecia and it completely ruined her confidence and cheeky personality - I'd imagine this would be ten times worse, as your hair can often grow back.
Yeah, he did all he could to hide the vitiligo and it does seem it was going on before Thriller.

If you see all the photos (and the Say Say Say video) made with Paul McCartney, you will see that he tried to use black make-up to hide the spots first. So that means he didn't lie about the period it started (somewhere around OTW and Thriller) and that he didn't want to become white.

He used cream later on but denied it on Oprah to differentiate between stuff for esthetical purposes and stuff for medical purposes; to make it clear he didn't want to bleach his skin, even if that ultimately was the case, technically

Michael said that he didn't want the spots to distract from his performance, and I think that fear was legit: even a few tiny white spots are very distracting on black skin

Well we gotta remember that he was a performer, whether he wore the makeup to cover his vitiligo, enhance appearance for performance, or for personal enjoyment shouldn’t really matter. He wore makeup, just like basically all artists do today, no biggie 🤷‍♀️
The tabloids were always just looking for any excuse to demonize him; their jealousy knew no bounds. Without Michael, present-day artists like Usher, Chris Brown, Beyonce, and Jay-Z would've had to work so much harder. Just as those before him opened certain doors for Michael, he continued that for those he knew would succeed him.

please explain
I don’t see how his influence on others is relevant to the fact that he had vitiligo or the fact that he would wear makeup

Wow I kinda sound like a butt, I’m not trying to be rude or argumentative or instigate anything, I’m just trying to process your logic

His appearance should never have been the main focus; other celebrities changed their looks on a regular basis and hardly anyone batted an eye. The only reason people got up in arms over it was because of the tabloids, who refused to shut up.

I 100% agree but I still don’t see how that affects the influence he had on other artists

During the course of his lifetime, Michael became both the most popular musical artist on the planet, and the most highly regarded black one as well. He carried forward a tradition from people like Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross, and Chuck Berry, then others followed in his own footsteps later on. I was simply referencing that.

ahhhhhh
okay I got you I got you
Sorry my brain is slow g 😂

Here is a picture of Michael in 87/88. As you can tell he tried as long as possible to cover up the vitiligo. His lupus somewhat blended his skin tone to better mask some of this. This was in January 1991. I saw a picture (can't find it right now) also from around 1991 where his skin tone is black thanks to makeup, but it looks very pancaked. It did not work in public events because of the flashlights highlighting every single flaw in his face, so he was very careful to reduce it to video shoots, etc. It was too much work and maintainance, so he decided to stop hiding it by 1992. And we've all seen the Oprah interview...
