The physical and emotional damage the burn does to anyone, let alone a person who lives on stage in front of thousands / millions cannot be overestimated. Yes it affected him in a big way. Accident or not, the Pepsi deals should not have been inked.

The health of millions of his fans comes into it too. It's a terrible situation to use your time on earth to promote crap. Crap that influences both impressionable children and adults alike. MJ continued promoting their crap many years after the incident.
