Michael had a duet with the lead singers of the 3 most legendary bands of all time?

Paul McCartney, Freddie Mercury and Mick Jagger

He is only missing out on John Lennon but we all know why that never happened.

It is something I just realized and it is a fun fact. Thread worthy? Probably not but it is a lazy Sunday afternoon so why not?

I love how inconsistent MJ’s history is with duets and features. Some of his choices are just baffling.

And they were some of his weakest songs is the best part.

and a duet with Barry Gibb from the Bee Gees

@AlwaysThere what do you mean?
Sometimes he hit the nail on the head. Working with McCartney and Biggie at their heights, for example.

Other times I can’t help but wonder what the hell he was thinking. Wrecks-n-Effects on Dangerous? Fats on Invincible? Never finishing the Freddie Mercury duets? Never truly pursuing anything with Whitney Houston once she’d reached her peak?

One of them is Teddy Riley's brother, so that's probably how they got there. They were kinda popular at the time too (in the US). Teddy also produced some of Heavy D's songs. Anyway, so you're saying your criteria for collabos is that the other person should be very popular with the mainstream audience? If Mike went by this, then no Joe King Carrasco. Or even Quincy Jones, since he was mainly known for producing or arranging jazz records & composing film scores, although he did produce Leslie Gore in the 1960s.

It was clearly deliberate. Same with Presley and Slash. He just wanted to surround himself with legends, or family members of legends.

He worked with Sean Lennon though.

@Hot_Street good call!

Hmm definitely not the McCartney duets.

@AlwaysThere what do you mean?
They were good but were they really the best you could expect from either of them? Say Say Say was the peak, the other two, I like em a lot but, hmm, they're not Smooth Criminal or Shes So Heavy.

I know he was not part of a group but let’s not forget the legend of legends, Mr Stevie Wonder.
Paul Anka, James Brown, he had their respect.

personally, I would remove freddie from that list (their collaborations were not completed) and replace him with diana ross of the supremes. they are/were the biggest girl group of all time. even the beatles were initially inspired by them (apparently). besides, out of all those collaborations ‘ease on down the road’ (movie version) is my second favourite 💜first being ‘somebody’s watching me’ but rockwell is not legendary, so it doesn’t count in this thread..
I prefer the solo songs as a whole.

Don't remove any, just add Diana.
