Dolby Atmos Remixes of all albums to be released

So far only Dangerous and Thriller are down as atmos on Apple Music for me today.

I gave most of the songs a full listen and am amazed about how clear and divided instruments are. The dynamic rage is amazing. Michaels voice and singing is louder and much clearer to hear. It really is a new sound experiance to me. I can see Michael standing in the recording studio with his headphones on in my mind. While some familiar sounds are quieter than others, especially She Drives Me Wild amazed me. It sounds even more New Jack Swing-ish that before. Didn't know Michael was singing in the background during the rap part. You can literally hear him snip his fingers in the first verse of Jam. The hornes actually hall, you hear louder strings/choir and super raw guitar playing in the background. The kick drum in Why You Wanna Trip On Me is awsome. Never heard those muted guitar riffs in the break before. Didn't know Heal the World was that orchestral. The stings building up in the chorus ("There are people dying. If you care enought for the livin'") and also the bridge are wonderfull. I get the impression of listening to some movie score music here. The drums and claps in Black or White sound different and more present to me. Especially at the end. Highlight is the aggressive break. Meavy Metal concert!!

All in all its like switching a movie from DVD to 4K. Hope Invicible and especially HIStory will get an Dolby Atmos release.

Three songs into Dangerous. I think what really shines here is how front and center MJ’s voice is. I’ve always felt that his vocals was buried to deep down in the mix, especially with tracks where he kind of raps (like Jam).

With that being said, I don’t think I’ll ever listen to these Dolby mixes again. So much unnecessary stuff added, and just straight up bizzare mixing choices. It is so unbalanced imo. It’s like the person mixing didn’t really know how to approach this, and it does kind of make sense because this album is very experimental and ambitious and does not really on traditional instruments a lot of the time. But even things like string orchestration is so unbalanced (like in the chorus of RTT). I wonder if this person ever listened to the originals?

The thought of these versions serving as an introduction to new listeners is concerning haha.

Haven't listened to those mixes, and won't do so.

These albums are meant to be experienced in stereophonic. Off The Wall & Thriller MoFi sacd's are imo the ultimate versions to go. Looking forward for an audiophole re-issue of Bruce' other 1999 masterpiece, the Bad album.

I absolutely hate these mixes. They changed far too much of the original vision.

The more of Dangerous I listen to, the worse it gets. This is laughably bad.
Thank god I had another email for 30 free days rather than pay for this...

Keep your comments coming

Dangerous is actually unlistenable to me. It doesn’t even sound professionally mixed.
