It's not a settlement, they didn't even make a accusation. They sold fake tracks, their relationship fell out and then they extorted them threatening to make false claims about Michael.
That's a good point. They never fully made allegations (as far as we're aware) it was just them threatening to. Which is why I'm pretty comfortable with the situation.
The fact that allegedly Branca made this public instead of the party itself makes me very comfortable.
As long as Branca succeeds in the confidentiality thing he's taking legal action for, we can rest easy for awhile. As long as the biopic gets a free rollout, it does not matter what follows

I don't understand this at all. If they signed the deal why did Branca go public with it? Basically Branca broke the deal here. If the deal said that nobody can talk about the deal and that the deal itself doesn't exist, he's the one who broke it. I understand that they came for more money, but he could have just said to them - remember the deal and **** off. The only logical explanation would be if they told him, ok.. we know about the deal and we are going to break it anyway, we will talk about everything. And then he went to the media first. But that would mean that they still plan to break the deal themselves and talk. I'm positive they will be the stars of LN 3 and 4. What can happen to them? Estate can sue them. They sue the Estate like Wade and James. The lawsuits would last for decades, they would appeal indefinitely, media would defend them and be on their side and hbo and various CSA organizations would finance everything (including the penalties for breaching the contract with the Estate) like they are doing for Wade and James. A movie like LN 3 and 4 can generate more than enough profit for them to pay the penalty for breaching the contract. And they will for sure argue that Branca broke it first, which he unfortunately did.
LN financially was an absolute flop in every country despite the aggressive marketing. DR hasn't received yet what he had been promised by the contract. Even LN2 would be an absolute joke.
Exactly how I feel! hahaWill this madness ever end? These accusations hang over MJ like an extremely bad smell.

If it has been put there immediately it would probably have 10 replies and consists of one page. Why do you think its good if nobody sees and engages with this thread? I would argue this topic is more important for Michael Jacksons legacy than discussion his makeup at a certain performance in april 1985 just to make an example.
Oh, I just think anything to do with legal stuff naturally sits in the T&T section. I hadn't noticed if the traffic had slowed down. Maybe it's slowed down naturally? Until we get more info or some confirmation about any part of this story maybe this just represents a natural pause?
