Guns N' Roses

What Makes a Great Guitar Player According to Slash?

“I think I finally came to the realization that what really makes a great guitar player is a guitar player who expresses their true personality in their music. So, what you’re hearing is one individual you know what I mean? All people are different and all players are different and the people that I really enjoy the most it’s not a skillset or a focused skill thing about how fast or how schooled or how insanely gifted anybody necessarily is. It’s all about how much of that unique person comes out of their instrument and it makes them stand apart so you actually really appreciate the way they sound. You know what I mean? I think that to me is what makes a great guitar player. All the guitar players that I’ve loved for as long as I can remember they’re all very unique players to themselves and there’s all different levels of sort of skill and tone and whatever is involved, and it’s just really about that individual’s personality on the instrument and that’s what turns me on.”

the whole album is actually really good. I'm glad Axl chose to work with MS.

Anyway, Hey guys ...Isaac is making a difference right? With a Slight SA energy on YCBM.. ?
?

When will they release the new song ?
Sometime this year hopefully lol. There is IEM audio from one of the recent shows where Axl says "I'd play the two new songs but I'm waiting to hear about marketing and I haven't heard anything".

Are these guys ever releasing a new album? Surely between Axl, Slash and Duff there’s enough good material?

Is there actual pressure to live up to expectations, after the likes of Spaghetti Incident and Chinese Democracy? Chinese Democracy is brilliant anyway imho.

Axl has two or three potentially great songs surely.

Slash on Long-Awaited New Guns N’ Roses Album: ‘It’s Coming’

"There's so much material at this point, it's a matter of having the discipline to sit down and f---ing get into it," Slash told Guitar World. "But the thing with Guns is, in my experience, you can never plan ahead. You can never sit down and go, 'We’re going to take this time, and we're going to do this.' Every time we've done that, it falls apart."

More recently, they issued the songs "Absurd" and "Hard Skool" in 2021 and "Perhaps" and "The General" in 2023. But all four of those tracks were reworked around ideas that dated back to the tortured Chinese Democracy sessions, which lasted from 1998-2007. A truly new Guns N' Roses song has yet to emerge from this reunion.

Nevertheless, Slash sounds downright hopeful. "It just spontaneously happens through some sort of inspiration that triggers it," he said in the new Guitar World interview, "and the next thing you know, it's off and running. So it's coming. I know it's coming because everybody is thinking about it. It'll just happen when it happens."
