Hey everyone!
I'm Liz, 21 years old and working on a degree in advertising. :)
North Carolina is my home, and I am very proud of it. :dancin:
As you can see I am a 90's kid through and through.....except for music.
I was the child that fell asleep to Steve Perry (frontman to the band Journey) and The Beatles singing on my radio. So no doubt I can still remember a time when MTV was indeed Music Television, and Michael still dominated after over 3 decades of music at the time.
I remember going into my parent's room as a child and Michael was on the tv (MTV) singing "The way you make me feel". I have been raised on a steady diet of good music.
Though I do not consider myself to be the biggest MJ fan, I do adore him. The song currently stuck in my head is "Baby Be Mine". Truely awesomesauce.
SO, aftter you have read my essay of an introduction, I will say see you around the boards and I cannot wait to meet you guys!

Love,
Liz

Hi Liz,

I'm Richard, 27 living in London, UK. I studied not too far away from you in Georgia for a year on a soccer scholarship but finished my business/accounting degree back in the UK in Sheffield.

I wasn't really led to music by my parents and Michael Jackson was one of the first I stumbled across back in 1995 with History. My dad is a big Beatles fan so am starting to discover them now too! Some amazing albums!

Impossible to pick a favourite song but Dangerous is probably my favourite album. Always on at house parties for as long as I can get away with!

Made some MJ friends in London for the first time and we actually now do a Michael Jackson fan magazine - I'm really proud of it and hope some of you can check it out on www.mjvibe.com/iconic
What started as a 'silly idea' is now looking really good, it's come on leaps and bounds!

Loving the message board and community :)

Hi Richard!
I actually lived in Georgia for about 2 years when I was younger, but then came back home to NC.
I lived right outside Atlanta. Since I still have family down there I consider Georgia to be a 2nd home. Your Magazine looks amazing! Love the cover design. I am a graphic artist though, so those things stand out to me, LOL. I agree it is impossible to pick a favorite of MJ's, and I love Dangerous! I JUST found his cover of "Come Together" and my jaw dropped. I am so picky about Beatles covers, but he knocked it right out of the park! Quite impressive. I was only 5 or 6 years old when History came out I believe, but how weird is it that I remember that?!?! I even remember the commercials for it on TV.

I only went to Atlanta once, didn't have that much free time as was playing football (soccer) every weekend! I went to Berry College, have you heard of it? All the lads on the team loved that I was an MJ fan, but I found him to be a bigger name in England back in 2003. Americans didn't seem too bothered about him back then. Or maybe that was just Georgia?!

Thanks for the nice comments about the mag - we have a great graphic artist who has just joined the team. A girl called Amber Myers - you can probably google her and find more of her work.

I'm getting a few Beatles albums for my birthday in a couple of weeks and can't wait to get into them!

I started discovering Michael's music more in 2000/2001 and only then got past HIStory and bought Dangerous, Bad etc. Remember being on the bus to college then with Dangerous on discovering all these new gems. Amazing! Hope we get some from the vaults but am sure his best songs were already out there...

Oh I only went to Atlanta a few times, that was back in '96 when we were holding the olympics. I saw an equestrian event there...Atlanta is very big though. Almost like the NYC of the south. HAHA!
I haven't heard of Berry College, is it private?
I just got some of the remastered Beatles Cds!!! They sound SO great!
Its no surprise that Michael was bigger in 2003 in England than he was here...its sad though. The media influenced how Americans perceived him (as they do with all celebs, sadly) and often times you didn't openly admit you liked Michael Jackson. (at least thats how it felt) His name was the punch line of a joke. Now you can't catch a comedian doing a Michael Jackson joke. In fact, it wasn't until 2008, when Thriller turned 25 years old, that he was respected again. That year was my Senior year in High School, and for our half-time show during our football game (american football ;D ) we actually did the Thriller dance. Usually for our shows it took us about a week to practice, but because it was MJ, we had to take a month. No lie.
And you should have seen the response, people LOVED IT. They loved practicing Thriller and watching Michael over and over again. The respect was just all over the place. We wanted to do it right. So, you can imagine the heartbreak, that 2 weeks after I graduated, he died.

Looks like a different Amber Myers - just a strange coincidence! Amber Myers has a page on this site http://subwolley.deviantart.com/gallery/25907855 where you can see some of her MJ art.

Yeh Berry College is a private college - I had a soccer scholarship so luckily didn't have to pay! Was a really nice place in thousands of acres of countryside. Was strange to go to a place so religious coming from England - at college/university here when I met people they would ask what football team I supported or what music I was into, over there most people's first question was what religion are you. Took me by surprise first time but I loved the place!

I had tickets for the London o2 concerts - I was so excited for Michael to be staying in the same city as me as I had moved to London in Summer 2008. Michaelmania would have been amazing! I was on holiday in Canada at Niagara Falls when I got lots of texts from friends and got the heartbreaking news of Michael's passing. So sad as I'm sure he would have given some mindblowing shows in the UK and wowed the fans and critics once again.

So good to have this fan community to celebrate the man we all love and share this common love. Thanks to whoever sent me the email to rejoin! :)
