I am ok with Come Together being on HIStory

I must say, out of all the Beatles tracks he could have used , come together is not among my favourites. It's one of John Lennon's penned tracks but still, there was better out there.

Something is arguably the best Beatles track , one of the most beautiful tracks I've ever heard. Could only imagine MJ singing it!

Whether intentional or not, I feel that HIStory has a very interesting emotional arc. The first seven or so songs (up to “Money”) amount to a rage-induced stream of consciousness: MJ hates the media, hates the police, hates the ongoing societal injustice, hates Evan Chandler and Tom Sneddon, hates seeing the environment suffer, and feels more isolated than ever. The next few tracks (“You Are Not Alone” and “Childhood”) represent anger giving way to sadness, to loneliness, to the overwhelming desire to be loved and understood. Finally, the last suite (“Tabloid Junkie” to “Smile”) finds MJ declaring himself comfortable in his own skin, dismissing those who continue to degrade and shame him, and finding reasons to keep smiling.

“Come Together” doesn’t fit that arc. It could if it were placed closer to “HIStory,” but midway through his emotional outburst feels very unorganized and weird. Even setting aside how it sounds nothing like the other tracks and is clearly a Bad-era vocal with demo production, it just grinds the album to a halt.

That said, I absolutely love it and think it obliterates every other version, including the original. I just think it’s better suited as a bonus track or on a compilation.
Agree! Although I would cut 'You Are Not Alone' out of History too, 'Little Susie' too, 'Smile' too and the title track even.. Imo it would be stronger if it was a real protest album or at least his story! 'Earth Song' and 'Childhood' fit that theme since the topics are personal and explanatory and 'Stranger In Moscow' counts to I guess but maybe should have some snippets of him hiding there from the press or something to make it clear

'Come Together'..? No sorry @Mister_Jay_Tee , I think your justification for it to be on History is a bit to far-stretched for me lol. Besides that it competes too much with 'D.S.' with being a classic rock song imho

If Michael cut out those intros on songs like 2BAD and Little Susie then we could have gotten the longer Moonwalker version of Come Together on HIStory.

Someone get the AI to do this because yes I can hear it.

Something is a great shout but also here, there and everywhere or for no one. It surprising he never did yesterday as that was one of his faves.

It's really quite a confusing thing why MJ didn't have a vault full of Beatles covers.
It is and although no producer recalls him recording anything I bet he did do something with, he loved the songs! We do have him singing 'She's Leaving Home' beautifully (at the start):

Come Together is about bringing all sorts of people together. About having an open mind and not thinking in schemes. That's what the media didn't do in the Chandler case. They treated him like a criminal. They put him in a scheme. Thats why Come Together belongs to HIStory.
