Michael's trial involved a minor, which is the reason it was never televised, I think.
 
^I think that might have been a factor in the judge's decision to not televise it, yes. On the one hand, not televising it was good for Michael's privacy, and to uphold minor privacy, which unfortunately Gavin Arvizo was entitled to... *grinds teeth*

On the other hand, the general public not seeing the "live" version allowed media outlets a free pass to basically skew the entire thing to their liking. Fortunately, people like Aphrodite Jones exist, who actually bothered to analyse the whole thing and write a serious book on it. Also, fortunately, the jury was able to make the correct decision in the end.

So, looking back on it, not televising it was definitely the correct decision.
