In the documentary Living With Michael Jackson - when Michael visits the Bambi Awards in Germany - he enters the stage too soon, not realising the award presenter comes on first before him, then crouches to avoid a very embarrassing entrance. Martin Bashir says, "The confusion was excruciating for all of us."
OK, so mistakes happen all the time backstage. I'm sure it's not the first time Michael almost accidently entered a stage when it was not his time. As for the situation being "confusing and excruciating" - Michael and his team and the backstage crew handled it calmly and there was no great panic. Just Bashir ramping up the "drama" to make Michael look like he was losing the plot.
I'm just noting this scene because I feel it's not discussed much about how Bashir manipulates footage to further defame Michael.
