The two men running Michael Jackson’s estate submitted a $106,000 legal bill as part of their legal battle with Paris Jackson, Us Weekly can exclusively report.

On Friday, January 9, John Branca and John McClain —the executors of Michael’s estate since the pop star died in 2009 — filed court docs stating the six-figure amount they incurred fighting Paris in court.
And people still defend the estate 😭

Who knows what the truth is with those complicated legal and financial issues. They're all multi-millionnaires fighting among themselves, hiring other millionnaire lawyers. I have no way of knowing whether Paris Jackson is in the right here and I don't go for the "heroes-and-villains" narrative that fans often create when it comes to such matters.

Paris has never been against Michael and she is Michael's daugher. I'd be inclined to believe her here.

Plus, the Estate are slime who also aren't releasing any of these great songs that were recently leaked, despite having them for close to 20 years.

You think being family makes one automatically in the right in a lawsuit? Since she has no legal or financial training, I assume that there is somebody who pointed out to her possible problems with how the Estate is managed. But whether that person is right, I can't tell without looking at all the facts -- and getting a master's degree in law and economics, which I won't...

Just confused, why you are defending a corporation over the life and word of Michael’s child? The very machine that killed Michael… you’re now giving the benefit of the doubt?

Real life is not a movie with clear-cut heroes and villains, and the law is not about who you root for but what the facts are. Paris Jackson might be right or wrong in her legal assessment of the Estate’s work — I don’t know. MJ himself was often on the losing end of lawsuits in the last years of his life because the facts were not in his corner.

You're describing how the law works. I'm describing what Michael fought for. He didn't lose in court because he was wrong. He lost because the system was stacked against him. Now his daughter is fighting that same system. My loyalty isn't to the legal process, it's to him. In his story, the children were always the point…

So if Paris gets her way what do you think will happen? Do you think the estate will still be able to defend Michael against Wade, James AND the freaking Cascios? She doesn't want the very lawyers defending Michael in these cases to be paid.

It feels like some of the fans blindly supporting Paris don't even know what she's actually arguing. She is not claiming that branca is getting paid too much money. It's that the freaking LAWYERS who are defending her inheritance are being paid too much.

Does that not sound insane to you?

They are paid to defend the brand of Michael Jackson. Their success is measured in preserved assets and legal victories. That's their job.

Paris is Michael's child. Her concern is her father's legacy, what his name means, how it's used, what he would have wanted.

A victory for the brand is not automatically a victory for the legacy. She can believe the cost to the estate in both money and moral compromise is too high.

To her, the defense of her father's name and the defense of the estate's bank account are not the same thing.

And as his heir, she gets to question that price.
