I don’t even know where to start… I watched the trailer and I feel something I can’t really explain. But I for sure, loved it and feel excited! Whenever I see Jaafar, whether during the shooting of the movie or now, watching the trailer, I can feel this spiritual energy around him. It’s like he’s channeling his uncle, not just through the script but through understanding, study and connection. You can tell he’s really gone deep by looking at the archives, learning from the family, immersing himself in uncle’s life and in everything that made Michael who he was. I think he might have always had a connection to his uncle but now, watching him, it’s clear he’s fully committed! You can feel his respect, his care. He knows that Michael’s life wasn’t simple, he knows it was tragic in so many ways but at the same time, full of light, full of achievement, full of artistry and brilliance and Jaafar carries all of that with him when he steps into that role..
I honestly don’t know how Michael would have reacted to all of this if he were alive. I don’t know if he would have been happy that they’re making a movie about him, about his story or if he would have felt uncomfortable, wondering why they’re showing everything about him. I really can’t say but what I do feel is that if he saw Jaafar the way we see him in the trailer, carrying his energy, channeling him, honoring him, then I’m pretty sure he would have gotten emotional. He would have felt that care, that respect, that understanding. And somehow, I feel like that’s what matters most because someone truly seeing him, not just the surface but him! It’s like Michael’s spirit is quietly present through him and it makes everything feel so emotional. Yep, they do use some of the same clips we’ve seen before but it doesn’t feel the same. I understand they can’t show everything but this version feels different, more complete, more alive. It really gives a better sense of what the movie will be like and it makes me so excited to see it

Really dislike all these CGI/green screen shots lol, not feeling the overall aesthetic of the movie, feels so bland. It looks like they'll just tell his life from point A to point B without adding any artistic value in the directing. I don't feel like they've managed to capture MJ's magic in here.

this looks incredibile but i was really hoping that this time they would have shown that MITM trailer they showed years ago and that wowed anyone. acting wise it feels a bit on and off. some scenes look incredible, others just cheesy. again i just wished they could go a little deeper
I do too, but that was never going to be this movie.

Like all biopics, it looks simplistic and spelled-out in the extreme -- just product for casuals who want to watch a recreation of the "greatest hits" from a pop star's life, presented according to formulaic Hollywood screenwriting "arcs". They seem to have opted for the "MJ breaks out of his family's influence to become the solo artist he was always meant to be" arc here.

As soon as the joy and excitement from the trailer start to fade, you begin to notice some flaws. As I said, I really loved the trailer because it’s exciting and emotional. But at the same time, there are parts that feel a little off? Some of the clips are the same ones we’ve already seen and the color palette and overall aesthetic of the film give this very modern, forced and almost dreamlike feeling. It’s beautiful maybe but it doesn’t always feel like a movie or even like something truly connected to Michael?! Sometimes feels a bit fake like the whole movie might be CGI, even in scenes that were actually shot realistically. The lighting and style they chose create this unreal feeling and it’s hard not to notice it right?

it hasn't even been an hour and we've already nitpicked to death. This is crazy lol

I haven't been watching it to death. I'm not rushing to see the movie. But it's a bog standard trailer, it does what it needs to do and it will look good on a big screen while you're waiting to see your movie.

The line Michael says, that sounds exactly like something Michael said. Especially in the 80s.

And the 80s focus, is how you draw people in. The Part 2 is gonna be for us. Nothing from the 90s is gonna sell (in the US at least) unfortunately.

The most interesting part is Joe Jackson, he's gonna be the stand out here. That's genuinely the part I can'twait to see onscreen.

the movie has potential clearly what lacks is a certain grittiness to it, that Michael absolutely embodied. if they want to make a second movie they reeeally have to find a way to bring that grittiness out because maybe this whimsical energy works for the first part of Michael's life but clearly not for the second part.

Agreed!!

Fans are making this movie feel so forced and are actually killing all the hype. Please, STOP saying it’s going to be a generational movie or the greatest of all time! Just calm down, oh my Goodness
It’s driving me insane!!!

This is a bog standard Hollywood biopic, not The Godfather.

Breaking records, multiple Oscar wins etc ….just shut up!!!!!
