"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

I remember a time in 2007 and 2008 when fans were banned because they got upset that Michael wasn't producing anything, and you weren't allowed to talk about it. This fan community is sick.

From official BBC site:

"Legacy: Michael Jackson" (working title) is a three‑part documentary series exploring the rise, abuse allegations, and enduring legacy of one of the most successful pop stars of all time. With access to rare intimate archive, and revelatory interviews with those closest to him, this is the most fully rounded and authoritative portrait of Jackson yet produced - a deeply researched study of a trailblazing musical genius, whose personal life remains a complex enigma.

From his rise to fame at a young age in the racially segregated landscape of 1960's America, to the controversies surrounding his personal affairs in later years, the series offers a comprehensive examination of Jackson’s life. As well as the stories behind the iconic songs, innovative videos, and mesmeric live performances, the series will also explore the longstanding allegations of child sexual abuse, which he denied. In addition, the series will look at how the Michael Jackson estate continues to generate billions of dollars from his art, and how his legacy sits within the cultural landscape today.

"Legacy: Michael Jackson", a 3x60’ for BBC Two and iPlayer, is made by 72 Films, a Fremantle company. It was commissioned by Simon Young, Head of Commissioning, History, the Executive Producer is Mark Raphael, the Series Director is Sophie Fuller. Fremantle is distributing the series internationally.

I really hope this is more about exposing the fact the truth and the lies from gold diggers and not shit about things he clearly did not do.

It's no longer possible for sick fans to have normal discussions, question things, and not wear their rose-colored fan glasses.
If you need to question Michael's innocence, there's a subreddit for that. Here fans have been researching the allegations for 32 years, so we're way past questioning, at this point we have answers, not questions.

So if the reports are true regarding the trailer coming out soon (being attached to the new Wicked film), it should also be released online beforehand should it not? So we could be seeing the trailer early to mid November?

I am officially overwhelmed by both Mark Geragos and the Cascios... I cannot go through this again, the leeching does not seem to stop. Why oh why would the Estate have thought paying off the Cascios would be a good idea?! Surely Branca was not born yesterday to be that naive!!!

On the other hand... if Geragos is so sure he has got something... why would he go public rather than wait for the judge's decision???

They've got nothing and they will receive nothing. I don't like the Estate for a lot of BS they've done but in that moment, during the strongest anti-MJ hysteria in the tabloids after his death, they had no choice. It was a loose-loose situation as it was for MJ in 1993.

either that or it could be a wicked exclusive for a couple days and then itd be released afterwards

When people say 'there's no such thing as bad publicity', I disagree most of the time..
But if you are talking about the biopic than that Cascio stuff will only bring the movie more attention thus more succes

We need the pro-MJ big scale documentaries. The Taj doc and any others. To show private home videos of Michael, to show how the allegations were and continue to be a lie. This needs to get inside Apple TV, Netflix. The MJ Estate is so incompetent. They (and MJ's kids) need to take the huge amount of money that MJ still gives them and start making a serious move on Michael's image.

If the Biopic (or Part II, if that's true) does not mention any of the allegations, that is an opportunity that will never be possible again.

What a tragic story (and posthumous legacy) our idol has. Unbelievable.

See, the thing is they like, legally can’t put that in. They were going to but then there was a whole case thing that was brought up and all the filming they did for that isn’t allowed to be used

How sure are we regarding what exactly the Chandler deal says and what can be done and what not?
I mean is it forbidden to include a fictional character with a similar name?? Why would it be forbidden to include the phone call when it clearly is available on Youtube?
And most of all - would the Arvizo case also be illegal to use?

Yes, I understand that is what allegedly happened and caused a lot of problems in production.

However, if the Chandler case can't be used (not even changing the names), I believe the Arvizo and the actual trial can. And honestly, thinking in terms of movies, the trial would fit quite well in it. Showing that MJ was acquitted of all charges.

Even if they don't bring any of the names up, is not possible that an MJ biopic CAN'T EVEN MENTION that the guy was accused of child molestation. That's crazy.

Yall make solid points. I definitely agree that it needs to and will be brought up in some way shape or form, we just don’t know how yet. There’s a lot of unknown on this film so whatever they end up with will be a surprise I think.

Hopefully they show the racial barriers that MJ had to go through just to be played on MTV - which is now shutting down its music channels in Europe after 40 plus years.

Seen a little tribute by SKY on TikTok about MTV , different clips of artists but not a single one of MJ , absolute joke.

It seems BBC is taking over the project that we would have wanted Taj to do. Does not sound promisin though... :cautious:
The BBC has not had a great rep over the last couple of years like to think they would do a fair honest and true documentary but wouldn't hold on my breath please let me wrong
