Saw the trailer at the cinema last night before McCartney's "Man on the Run" (amazing doc, btw) and I did laugh at one very audible "of for f****ck sake" when it came on followed by "another biopic!?".

My opinion didn't really change. Anything I thought that looked artificial originally just was amplified on the big screen tbh.

It's very telling that only OTW/Thriller songs have been used so far in the marketing. If anything, it makes me wonder if the "Bad" performance we see in the trailer is actually a putting together of the '87 Bad Tour and the '88 tour costumes and stage design. This could be why we have not seen so much as an image of Smooth Criminal, TWYMMF, Dirty Diana etc.

I won't deny that I didn't get a kick out of seeing the trailer out in the wild though, and my excitement did raise a little despite all my reservations. Roll on April.

I'm really glad they're using pictures of Jaafar performing Bad on some of the posters, because he looks most like Mike there and it's great work for them to showcase

Based on the clips I thought Jaafar looked more convincing in the other era's than in the Bad one tbh.. And strangely enough he looked the most like Michael in those rehearsal clips without make up and wig.. imo

I'm curious to see if Pepsi will be mentioned in connection with the fire accident and how Pepsi's sponsorship at the time squares with Joseph's statement that the Jacksons are a brand like Coca-Cola. These two scenes are unlikely to please Pepsi.

One thing that should come out very well in the film is Michael donating his settlement fee to charity and the burns unit.

Shows where his heart is.

After watching the TMZ documentary about the Pepsi accident, it's no wonder that Michael trying to free himself from his family will be a big part of the story in the biopic.

It just broke my heart when Bill Katz said this, Michael really didn't want to do those commercials: "Michael, near the beginning of the filming of the commercials, decided he wasn't sure he really wanted to do it. Mrs Jackson went to the back stairs, when Michael was still living with Mr and Mrs Jackson, and yelled upstairs and said, "Michael, you come down here right now! This nice person from Pepsi has a contract for you to do a commercial for Pepsi and you're gonna do it!" And Michael said, "Okay, mother." And that was that."

From Roger Enrico's book: "So it took King several days, with a lot of help from Michael's family, to get that last name on the contract. When Michael finally signed, it was four A.M."

The fact that Roger Enrico said that Michael finally signed the Pepsi contract at 4 A.M. after days of refusing to sign, it makes me wonder if the Pepsi contract is the contract Michael was talking about in the Shmuley tapes:

Michael: "Like there's some times I'd be in bed at night sleeping. It's 12 at night. The door is locked. He said, "I'm giving you five seconds. If you don't open, I'm going to kick it down." And he starts kicking it, boom! Kicking, like, breaking the door down. "Why didn't you sign the contract today?" I go, "I don't know." He goes, "Well, sign it! If you don't sign it, you're in trouble."
Shmuley: "So you would sign?"
Michael: "I had to. He would... he was very physical. He'd throw you and hit you as hard as he can."

The option is called IMAX Enhanced on Disney Plus.
I don't know how much Disney paid to use the logo, but it's simply false. IMAX refers to the type and quality of the equipment used for both recording and playback.

I'd happily bet my life savings that an IMAX engineer never came to your house to certify your lounge, projector and speakers.

These two scenes are unlikely to please Pepsi.
Huh? Why would anybody care about that?

It's not the job of a filmmaker to please Pepsi.

I just... Ugh...

I'll say it again - I don't think anybody actually understands what a biopic is.

A biopic is NOT a promo opportunity to make everybody look good. It's supposed to be an honest movie that tells the viewer what happened.

Please don't expect Moonwalker II.

When Michael finally signed, it was four A.M."
Actually shows weakness of character. I'm sure Michael never signed it at 4am, and they're just making it up for dramatic effect, but either way, it's not something I would have put in the movie.

It's an absolute golden rule, NEVER sign ANYTHING at 4am, no matter what happens. Doesn't matter how much pressure people put on you. Just don't do it. You don't make good decisions at that time. Saying MJ buckled and made a bad decision like this just paints him in an unnecessarily bad light.

Sounds to me like they're trying way too hard to paint him as a victim.

That doesn't really matter. If you can watch that version on the right at home then its still the Imax version:

I know there are different types of Imax screens.

Majority of them are called LieMax because they aren't true IMAX but use the name to sell tickets. I think Dolby Cinema would be best to watch a musicians biopic because of the sound and color stands out more

That was not in the documentary, that was in the book written by the president of Pepsi, Roger Enrico. There's no question that Michael has signed contracts he did not want to sign in the middle of the night, as Michael said so himself on the Shmuley tapes. So the question is not whether or not it happened, it's whether or not Pepsi was one of those contracts Michael was referring to.

Hum, no... It paints Joe in a bad light, not Michael. Since when does being a victim make you look bad?

Another example of a contract Michael signed under the pressure of his family while he was "weak":

Margaret Maldonado (Jermaine's ex-wife): "Meanwhile, Jermaine, Katherine, and Joseph flew to Taiwan where Michael was now touring. To all the world, the gesture was to show support for Michael. What the press didn’t know was that in his pocket Jermaine had a letter of intent for the “Jackson Family Honors” show, which he was determined to get Michael to sign. He finally succeeded, but Katherine was furious that Jermaine and Joseph hounded Michael into signing it at a time when Michael was under a doctor’s care for exhaustion and being fed intravenously."
