"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

"Michael" is up against Spiderman, Avengers, Toy Story 5 and Super Mario this year.
not a problem

If it doesn’t break records and make a billion at least - lots of fans will have egg on their face due to how much they have hyped this film.

I hope it does brilliantly at the box office but I can see it making anything from 500m to around 800m. I think many people have overestimated it.

It will be hard to make 1 billion but if it does, fantastic!!

I seen something on X that said in China , it was the 14th most anticipated film of the year. That to me, does not scream that this film is breaking records.

On other polls and most anticipated lists, it often not found in the poll or only briefly mentioned.

Avengers will destroy it at the box office.

I cringe so much when I see people saying that MJ will be biggest film ever etc

this own numbers !!,i know thé box office and Michael will do more than 1 billion dollars

After watching the TMZ documentary about the Pepsi accident, it's no wonder that Michael trying to free himself from his family will be a big part of the story in the biopic.

It just broke my heart when Bill Katz said this, Michael really didn't want to do those commercials: "Michael, near the beginning of the filming of the commercials, decided he wasn't sure he really wanted to do it. Mrs Jackson went to the back stairs, when Michael was still living with Mr and Mrs Jackson, and yelled upstairs and said, "Michael, you come down here right now! This nice person from Pepsi has a contract for you to do a commercial for Pepsi and you're gonna do it!" And Michael said, "Okay, mother." And that was that."

From Roger Enrico's book: "So it took King several days, with a lot of help from Michael's family, to get that last name on the contract. When Michael finally signed, it was four A.M."

The fact that Roger Enrico said that Michael finally signed the Pepsi contract at 4 A.M. after days of refusing to sign, it makes me wonder if the Pepsi contract is the contract Michael was talking about in the Shmuley tapes:

Michael: "Like there's some times I'd be in bed at night sleeping. It's 12 at night. The door is locked. He said, "I'm giving you five seconds. If you don't open, I'm going to kick it down." And he starts kicking it, boom! Kicking, like, breaking the door down. "Why didn't you sign the contract today?" I go, "I don't know." He goes, "Well, sign it! If you don't sign it, you're in trouble."
Shmuley: "So you would sign?"
Michael: "I had to. He would... he was very physical. He'd throw you and hit you as hard as he can."
THIS MAKES SO MUCH GUIDEDAMN SENSE!! I was thinking about the same tape as I watched but to see it typed out....Ibtruly wonder if this scene is in the movie.

Alot of fans are either very delusional or just have no clue when it comes to film and box office. There is no way it's making anywhere near $2B.

$1B would be a HUGE accomplishment and we should be over the moon if that were to happen.

why?,did you imagine Titanic in 1999
$2B???

It really seems to me that lots of people on this board don't actually care about how good this film is, they're just here to celebrate awards and breaking sales records.

Do any of you guys actually listen to MJs music, or do you just put it on mute in a loop, to boost the streaming numbers? Smfh.

1b would be incredible!!! If it gets even close to that it will be considered a massive massive success.

Thanks for the support , I agree with all of that!

It could even do 300m+ and be a smashing success. Biopics don't do well, and everyone went nuts for the Elvis one - that only did 288m!!

some people here are as much as annoying as Beltrano but other side of the coin, salivating for this movie to flop.
I haven't seen anyone hoping for this to flop on this forum. The vast majority of negative or pessimistic comments are usually backed up with valid reasons and there are plenty of those. And I don't think any of the negative comments are even harsh or bad, just realistic (or grounded in reality at least). This is one of the most civilised threads I've ever seen on MJJC where there is a genuine split in opinion.

Being on the other side of Beltrano's coin would require someone posting that this film will make $46.50 in the global box office.

I open this thread once every 2 weeks and everytime it's the same 2/3 people scouting every 2026 movies list on the internet to back up the assumption that this biopic isn't doing to do good. and I say it as someone who has been pretty critical of this movie's outcome several times, both the "$2B crowd" and the pessimists are getting tired. No one is able to tell how this movie is going to do, at this point if what they showed so far hyped/interest you just go watch it, if it didn't, don't. It's that simple. Either way shut up. Lionsgate/Universal/MJ estate are the ones who should be concerned with the revenue and impact of this movie, since they are the ones who decided to invest 150+ millions on this. it's not money that is going in your pocket either way

It's a thread about the film to discuss, and box office is something that's very important (especially since there's the implication there could be a second film).

I personally won't shut up, by the way. If discussing the box office estimates upsets you, that's on you.

box revenue is important but that can't be the only thing that interests fans. this movie could be a masterpiece and still not meet box office expectations, or could smash it and still be a forgettable product. and any variable that exists in between these two extremes. What we know for certain so far is that the distributors have felt optimistic about the reception of the teaser/trailer and, on the other hand, they are not really promoting the movie worldwide as we expected. the reason why the biopic is currently #14 in China is because they haven't started promotion there yet. Bottom line is, seems to me that distributors are all over the place about what to do and what to expect with this movie. With talks about greenlighting a sequel and being uncertain on whether promoting Michael at the same time. This is a mess they created and that it's up to them to handle. Fans can't do much else but show up in the theater, or either don't. If the 2B crowd is going to end with eggs in the face that's their own personal problem to deal with

I dont think the elvis one will do n well cuz most of elvis's fans are long gone dead.. where as mj dans are still around as most of us are born from the 70s 80s era

Are we talking about things we have absolutely no idea if we can prove?

Guys I think elvis is still alive, so is Michael
