I’m more concerned about the comments regarding the acting and make up.

The biggest though was the mention that we’re all looking for that moment again , and it’s Michael, but he’s not even here or something along those lines!

I hope they did not mean that despite a good portrayal from Jaafar, it still lacked that magic that the real MJ brought

I wasn't worried about the makeup until I saw that picture of Jafaar in the Beat It scene beside Antoine if I'm honest. That was one of the things I thought would have been spot on.

Of course it's going to lack that magic. No one else in existence brought what MJ brought to the table. But it's a celebration of that. And so far, it looks like a damn good one.

Antoine mentions Bad and Michael being free so maybe it works backwards?
