Neither Number Ones nor Essential were given official vinyl releases when they originally came out.

Ah, my bad. I just looked it up, Number Ones was released on no less than six formats, but it would appear vinyl was not one of them.

Stands to reason though. Vinyl was dead by about 1990. There was no need for it by 2003, because by that point people were prioritising low price and high convenience.

I believe it was only released on cd at the time.
