The interesting thing is that Micheal has sold so many records in the USA since 1991 soundscan but his albums haven't been recertified in years. Why hasn't RIAA done the recertification for MJ albums.

The RIAA does not initiate recertifications. The record label has to request an audit and they they report the numbers to the RIAA. All the RIAA does is update their database to reflect the updated album sales.

Sony is the one we are waiting on. And I think that the reason we have not seen Sony update Mike's sales is because there are still some issues between Mike and Sony that have not been fully resolved. I don't think Mike owes Sony anything. I believe that Sony owes Mike and that is why they are stalling at updating his sales. You see, updating sales also means that they will have to pay some more royalties.

BTW, for those interested, Sheryl Crow's 'The Very Best Of...' is #100 on the Eurochart (pretty drastic difference with its current US position of #2.)
