Hey jesh - Thanks alot for the Denmark stat. Nice to see the album is holding up nicely in that territory.

BTW, I was able to get hold of the chart positions for week 2 and 3 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart (please see below.) Up to Week 3, the album sold approximately 19,000 units in the USA. Still waiting on stats for week 4 (last week).

Also, does anyone know if the Germany Top 100 Album Chart is available online? Thanks.

Hey Amit!

Just waiting on you Australia...

Unfortunately, as far as I am aware, 'The Ultimate Collection' has not debuted in the Top 100 Albums Chart in AUS.

There have been real availability issues here in AUS, with different retailers receiving the boxset at different times, or not at all.

There has also been NO PROMOTION whatsoever here in AUS! Absolutely nothing!

Once I have access to the full charts I will confirm whether or not the boxset has charted, but at the moment, I don't think that it has... :(

According to Neilsen Soundscan, The Ultimate Collection has scanned 40,000 units in the USA since it's release on November 16th 2004.

I can see this set becoming quite a sleeper hit over time.

Hi BooMaster666 - I don't have the SS info for those sets but I do know that they have scanned more than The Ultimate Collection in the U.S. Overseas, it's a different story as Jackson's boxed set has outsold The Beatles and Bon Jovi by a long shot. Nirvana's boxed set has done the best business worldwide (probably due to the breadth of previously unreleased material.)

Good news in the UK as the 5X platinum eligible Number Ones album re-enters the UK Top 75 Album Chart. The album jumps 101-53 giving the album it's 37th week inside the Top 75.

Hey Amit!

Further EOY news from AUS!

http://p210.ezboard.com/foperationalliance...icID=1489.topic

Michael Jackson's #1's CD ranks as the 6th highest selling Urban album in Australia for 2004!

[#1's spent one week at #1 on the Top 40 Urban Albums chart during 2004 and fifteen weeks in the Top 10 (it spent six weeks at #1 during 2003). On 2003's EOY Urban Album chart, #1's ranked as the 9th highest selling CD in Australia.]

I will check for any other MJ entries in the EOY Top 40 Urban Albums chart once it is released in its entirity.

Also, please take a look at my reply to your post in this thread...

Guy.

Wow. I had no idea that Number Ones charted so high on the EOY ARIA Album Chart aswell!

I guess a triple platinum certification is finally overdue then, right?

I estimate that the #1's CD album sold approximately 50,000 copies in Australia during 2004.

I have made this estimate based upon sales figures of more recent releases that I have sales information for and their positions EOY album chart.

If my estimate is correct, that would bring #1's sales total to approximately 150,000 copies.

Based on this, I'm not totally convinced that #1's deserves a triple platinum certification just yet... but it would be nice!

If #1's continues to sell as well as it does in 2005 as it did in 2004, then it should become eligible to be recertified. Whether or not Sony Music Australia will actually get the title recertified is a totally separate issue!

Guy.

amit,

I was wondering, why they dont care about us was never certified gold. it sold more than In THe Closet which was certified gold. Is it still eligible for a gold certification?
Hi metalfish - The reason why "In The Closet" was certified gold whereas "They Don't Care About Us" wasn't is because according to the RIAA's old policy, maxi-singles used to count as two units towards a certification. I believe the policy changed around 1994/1995.

Hello Amit and thanks for the figure. Does that mean that it counts as 160.000 copies as it is a 4 CD boxset? (I don't count the DVD).
Hey uk - Yes, 40,000 boxed sets have been scanned in the USA (which technically means 200,000 discs have been shifted since each set has five discs.)

UNITED KINGDOM

(05/01/05): According to the Official UK Charts Company, Michael Jackson placed *three* albums (more than any artist) in the 2004 End Of Year UK Album Chart: Number Ones at #57, Thriller at #135, and The Very Best Of The Jacksons at #155.

For those that don't know, The Very Best Of The Jackson was quietly certified GOLD in the UK earlier this year (100,000 units.) :D

IRELAND

(05/01/05): In the 2004 End Of Year Irish Album Chart, Number Ones was the 33rd best selling album of the year.

Flashback from last year....

UK

In the 2003 End Of Year Album Chart published by the Official UK Charts Company, Michael Jackson had 4 entries (more than any other artist) with Number Ones at #8, Greatest Hits - HIStory Volume I at #119, Thriller at #143, and Off The Wall at #189.

IRELAND

(12/01/04): After only six weeks of release, Number Ones is Ireland's 9th biggest selling album of 2003. In addition, the Number Ones DVD was Ireland's 3rd best selling Music DVD of the year.

Great news in the UK as the 5X platinum eligible Number Ones album moves up another five positions 53-48. :pirate:
