Michael sampling other people's work in his music

In other words adults are really just children that physically aged
Yep. That about sums it up.

Anish Kapoor created 'Blackest Black'. In retaliation, Stuart Semple created 'Black 2.0'. He also created 'Pinkest Pink' which Anish Kapoor is also not allowed to use.

I've noticed that the music industry is very petty when it comes to this sort of thing. An painter wouldn't sue another painter for using the same shade of blue, a filmmaker wouldn't sue another filmmaker for having a similar plotline (How many horror, action and romance films have the same basic plot?)

But when it comes to music it seems like people can get sued for the smallest things. Whether it be a similar sounding melody and/or rhythm.
Most of Quentin Tarantino's career consists of copying things from other movies. Like the yellow Bruce Lee outfit in Kill Bill. There's a lot of music videos based on other stuff like Don't Come Around Here No More by Tom Petty is Alice In Wonderland & Janet Jackson's You Want This is based on the 1960s movie Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!.

There are entire music genres in which a lot of songs sound alike (house, reggaeton, Tejano, polka, zydeco, reggae, drums & bass, disco, rockabilly, etc).
